About Murvi

Murvi is a boutique British motorhome manufacturer specialising in bespoke, hand-built van conversions from its Devon factory near Plymouth. With over 50 major awards since 1980, Murvi is widely regarded as one of the finest van conversion specialists in the UK.

The range is built on Fiat Ducato, Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter platforms:

The Morello — Murvi's flagship model and most award-winning motorhome. Available on Fiat Ducato LWB, Ford Transit L3 and Mercedes Sprinter MWB. Features comprehensive kitchen, washroom and living accommodation. Prices from around £65,000 on Ford.

The Pimento — a shorter, more manoeuvrable version of the Morello that retains all the flagship's strong points. Based on Fiat Ducato MWB and Ford Transit L2.

The Pimento XL — a newer model drawing inspiration from the Morello, offering the same kitchen and washroom arrangements but with flexible sleeping options including double bed or two singles.

Every Murvi is tailor-made to the owner's specifications, with an extensive choice of fabrics, flooring, interior fittings and base vehicle options. Factory visits are encouraged before purchase so customers can see exactly how their vehicle will be built.

Ownership history

Murvi has been producing bespoke van conversions of the highest order from its Devon base since 1980, picking up over 50 major awards along the way. The company was established near Plymouth, Devon and has remained in the same location throughout its history.

Murvi has always sold direct to customers, building a fiercely loyal and discerning customer base through word-of-mouth reputation and magazine reviews rather than dealer networks. The company has stuck to its one area of specialism — van conversions — for over four decades.

The company's approach is boutique rather than industrial: each vehicle is tailor-made to the owner's specifications, with customers encouraged to visit the factory to choose from a large range of fabrics, floor coverings, interior fittings and base vehicle options. This bespoke approach means production numbers are deliberately limited.

Murvi remains wholly independent, one of the few British motorhome manufacturers never to have been acquired by a larger group. This independence has allowed the company to maintain its quality-first philosophy without compromise.

What Murvi is known for

Over 50 major awards — the Morello alone has won more awards than any other motorhome, demonstrating sustained excellence across decades of independent testing and review.

Bespoke craftsmanship — every Murvi is individually tailored to the owner's specifications. This is not a mass-production operation but a genuine bespoke manufacturing service.

Exceptional build quality — consistently praised by owners and reviewers alike, Murvi's build quality is considered among the very finest in UK van conversions. Quality materials and proven layouts create vehicles that last.

Extraordinary customer loyalty — Murvi owners tend to keep their vehicles for extended periods, and when they change, they typically buy another Murvi. This level of repeat business speaks to exceptional satisfaction.

Factory-direct relationship — selling direct means every customer has a personal relationship with the manufacturer, from specification through build to ongoing support.

Why people choose Murvi

If you want the finest build quality — Murvi's hand-built, bespoke approach delivers a level of fit, finish and materials quality that mass-production converters cannot match.

If you want a truly personalised vehicle — the bespoke specification process means your Murvi is built exactly to your requirements, not a compromise from a fixed option list.

If award-winning design matters — with over 50 major awards, the layouts and engineering have been validated repeatedly by independent experts.

If you value long-term ownership — Murvi vehicles are built to last, with quality materials and construction that justify the investment over many years of ownership.

What to watch out for

Premium pricing — bespoke, hand-built quality commands premium prices. New Morello models start from around £65,000, placing Murvi at the top of the van conversion price bracket.

Long waiting times — the bespoke manufacturing approach and limited production capacity mean significant waiting times for new builds.

Single factory location — the Devon factory is the sole point of manufacture, sales and primary service. Buyers outside the South West face travel for factory visits and certain servicing.

Limited used availability — Murvi owners keep their vehicles for extended periods, meaning used examples are scarce. When available, they command strong residual values.

Small company considerations — as a small independent manufacturer, Murvi's long-term continuity depends on the current ownership. There is no corporate group backup.

What to check when buying a used Murvi

Check base vehicle and specification — Murvi builds on Fiat, Ford and Mercedes platforms. Understand which base vehicle your model uses and its maintenance requirements.

Check the base vehicle thoroughly — Fiat Ducato: cam belt, clutch, gearbox. Ford Transit: service history, turbo, clutch. Mercedes Sprinter: full dealer service history.

Inspect the conversion quality — Murvi's build quality is generally exceptional, but check all furniture fixings, plumbing connections and electrical work.

Verify provenance — confirm the vehicle is a genuine Murvi conversion. The company can verify build records for any vehicle they manufactured.

Conduct damp check — check around all windows, roof fittings and any body modifications.

Test all systems — heating, water, fridge, 12V and 240V circuits.

Pre-purchase checklist

  • Identify base vehicle platform and specification

Warranty advice

Murvi provides manufacturer warranty on new conversions, with the base vehicle covered by Fiat, Ford or Mercedes warranty respectively. The company also offers pre-owned Murvi vehicles that have been thoroughly checked, refurbished and tested by the factory.

An independent warranty backed by the RAC is recommended for used Murvi purchases not sourced through the factory's own pre-owned programme.

OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, providing peace of mind on a premium British-built campervan.

Dealer warranty

When buying a used Murvi, look for a dealer that offers an independent warranty backed by a provider like the RAC. This means your warranty remains valid even if the dealer ceases trading. OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, covering the average ownership period.
