Ownership history

Moto-Trek was launched in 2012 as part of the Trek Group, brought to market by Equi-Trek, the UK's largest luxury horsebox manufacturer. After many years of design and build experience from horseboxes, the Trek Group applied its engineering expertise to produce the Moto-Trek range of exclusive handbuilt motorhomes.

Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Moto-Trek benefits from the Trek Group's established manufacturing infrastructure, ISO 9001 accredited factories and deep experience in precision vehicle construction. The crossover of skills from horsebox to motorhome manufacturing — both requiring robust living accommodation within a vehicle body — proved highly successful.

Moto-Trek has built a reputation for innovation, notably introducing the UK's first 3.5-tonne motorhome with a slide-out side, expanding interior space beyond what conventional panel van construction allows.

What Moto-Trek is known for

Innovative slide-out technology — Moto-Trek pioneered the UK's first 3.5-tonne motorhome with a slide-out side, dramatically expanding interior space in the X-Cite and Pioneer models.

Horsebox engineering heritage — the Trek Group's background in luxury horsebox construction brings exceptional structural engineering, robust build quality and precision manufacturing to every Moto-Trek motorhome.

All under 3,500kg — every model in the range is designed to be driveable on a standard UK car licence, eliminating the need for additional licensing.

Award-winning designs — the Leisure-Treka series has won multiple Design Awards from the Caravan and Motorhome Club, validating the quality of design and construction.

ISO 9001 manufacturing — production in ISO-accredited factories ensures consistent quality control and manufacturing standards.

Why people choose Moto-Trek

If you want a slide-out motorhome under 3,500kg — the X-Cite and Pioneer offer dramatically expanded living space through slide-out technology, all within standard licence weight limits.

If build quality is paramount — Moto-Trek's horsebox engineering heritage and ISO 9001 manufacturing deliver robust, precision-built motorhomes.

If compact exterior with spacious interior matters — all models are designed for narrow roads and tight spaces while maximising interior accommodation.

If you want British-built quality — manufactured in Sheffield by skilled craftspeople with decades of precision vehicle construction experience.

What to watch out for

Young brand — founded in 2012, Moto-Trek lacks the decades-long heritage of established motorhome brands. Long-term reliability data is still accumulating.

Niche manufacturer — relatively small production volumes mean fewer units on the used market and potentially longer waiting times for new builds.

Slide-out complexity — the innovative slide-out mechanism adds mechanical complexity that conventional motorhomes don't have. Long-term reliability of the mechanism should be verified.

Single manufacturing location — the Sheffield factory is the sole point of production, with a limited dealer network.

Premium pricing for compact motorhomes — the innovative engineering and quality construction commands prices at the upper end of the compact motorhome segment.

What to check when buying a used Moto-Trek

Check the slide-out mechanism — if fitted, operate the slide-out multiple times. Check seals, operation smoothness, electrical/hydraulic systems and look for any water ingress around the slide-out perimeter.

Check the base vehicle — identify the base vehicle platform and apply standard mechanical checks.

Conduct thorough damp check — pay particular attention around the slide-out perimeter if fitted, plus all windows, doors and roof fittings.

Test all habitation systems — heating, water, fridge, electrical circuits through a complete cycle.

Verify weight — confirm the vehicle's weight relative to the 3,500kg limit, including any aftermarket additions.

Warranty advice

Moto-Trek provides manufacturer warranty on new motorhomes, backed by the Trek Group's established manufacturing operation. For used purchases, verify warranty status and service history.

An independent warranty backed by the RAC is recommended for used Moto-Trek purchases, providing coverage independent of the manufacturer.

OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, providing peace of mind on an innovative British-built motorhome.

Dealer warranty

When buying a used Moto-Trek, look for a dealer that offers an independent warranty backed by a provider like the RAC. This means your warranty remains valid even if the dealer ceases trading. OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, covering the average ownership period.
