Dreamer is a French campervan brand within the Rapido Group, offering modern, well-insulated van conversions built in the Rapido factory in Mayenne. Combining minimum bulk with maximum comfort, Dreamer proves that affordable campervans can deliver genuine quality.
The range is structured around two tiers:
The Fun Range — the accessible entry-level lineup on Fiat Ducato, with Fun+ and Addict specification levels adding features like Webasto diesel heating, DAB radio, second leisure battery, outside shower and reversing camera.
The Select Range — the more upmarket offering on both Fiat and Ford platforms, including the Saphir Edition with panoramic roof, exclusive furniture finishes, matte black accessories, alloy wheels and LED lighting.
The Camper Sport — designed for sports enthusiasts and adventurers.
Key features across the range include XHP polyurethane insulation with unprecedented insulating properties, furniture manufactured in Rapido's own carpentry workshops, and unrivalled modularity with optimised storage solutions.
Dreamer was created in 2006 as a fitted van brand within the Rapido Group, building on over 40 years of van conversion experience from the group's Campérêve brand. The two brands share their heritage, with Dreamer campervans having their own dedicated assembly line within the Rapido factory in Mayenne, France.
Dreamer was designed to be both a holiday vehicle and everyday transport — easy to park, great to drive in town and along mountain roads. The brand offers the best in compact recreational vehicles with a modern look and feel, at an affordable price point relative to the Rapido parent brand.
The Rapido Group, founded in 1948 by cabinetmaker Constant Rousseau, remains family-owned under third-generation leadership (Nicolas Rousseau since 2014). The group's portfolio includes Rapido, Fleurette, Florium, Itineo, Camperêve, Dreamer, Westfalia, WildAx, Giottiline, PLA and Stylevan.
Rapido Group quality at campervan prices — built in the same Mayenne factory as Rapido motorhomes, with furniture from Rapido's own carpentry workshops, Dreamer delivers group-level quality in an affordable van format.
XHP insulation technology — Dreamer's XHP polyurethane complex with polyether provides insulation properties that make the vans genuinely comfortable in all seasons.
Dual-purpose design — Dreamer vans are designed to work as both everyday transport and holiday accommodation, with compact dimensions that work in town and on mountain roads.
Five-berth capability — the Family Van Select squeezes five berths into a panel van body, offering genuine family accommodation in a compact format.
If you want Rapido Group quality in a campervan — the same factory, same carpentry workshops and same quality standards as premium Rapido motorhomes.
If you want a dual-purpose vehicle — Dreamer's compact dimensions and car-like driving make it genuinely practical for both daily commuting and weekend adventures.
If insulation matters — XHP technology provides all-season comfort that sets Dreamer apart from many competitors.
If you want an affordable French campervan with UK dealers — Dreamer has established UK dealer presence through the Rapido Group network.
Van conversion space limitations — despite clever design, panel van conversions have inherent space constraints compared to coachbuilt motorhomes.
Relatively young brand — founded in 2006, Dreamer has less heritage than established van conversion brands.
Limited UK used market — relatively few used Dreamer vans available in the UK compared to established brands.
Predominantly LHD in used market — many used models will be continental LHD imports.
Budget-tier within Rapido Group — Dreamer sits below Rapido and Fleurette in the group hierarchy, with specification reflecting this positioning.
Check the base vehicle — on Fiat Ducato: cam belt, clutch, gearbox. On Ford Transit: service history, EcoBlue engine.
Inspect the conversion quality — check all furniture fixings, plumbing and electrical connections.
Conduct damp check — check around all windows, doors and roof fittings.
Test insulation performance — the XHP insulation should provide noticeably good thermal performance.
Test all systems — heating (Webasto if fitted), water, fridge, 12V and 240V circuits.
Dreamer provides manufacturer warranty through the Rapido Group dealer network. The quality of Rapido Group backing provides reassurance of ongoing support and parts availability.
An independent warranty backed by the RAC is recommended for used Dreamer purchases, providing additional coverage beyond manufacturer warranty.
OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, providing peace of mind on a Rapido Group campervan.
When buying a used Dreamer, look for a dealer that offers an independent warranty backed by a provider like the RAC. This means your warranty remains valid even if the dealer ceases trading. OakTree Motorhomes offer up to three years of RAC-backed warranty, covering the average ownership period.
