YourParkingSpace Dilemma

We used this app a few weeks ago and overnighted in Tesco's Supermarket car park in Caenarfon. No problems, everything worked well it wasn't noisy and we did our shopping there in the morning. There were a few parking pitches where you could hang the back of the van over the grass, so did not stick out very far. We did check out the ASDA car park as well, but that was a lot tighter with no spaces to hang the tail over, so you do need to check before booking.

We are off again for a few days just North of Sheffield and on the App we have found one at a Premier Inn, quite close to where we need to go. I am worried that Premier Inn might be a bit peeved to have a campervan overnighting in their car park for £2 or £3 instead of paying £80/100 to sleep in their hotel. I can't find anything on the App to say you can't. The dilemma is, "do you think I should risk it or not".

With your parking space you can see who the host is, be careful we were ripped off for £50 by an individual offering a space in a nottiingham multistorey owned by a national company, the space we paid for has now been removed after multiple complaints but there is still no safegaurds for general public against fraudsters, the hotel our niece ended up using thru YPS were more than happy to recieve a small income from renting spaces out and she has now used that for three years with the hotel ringing her a couple of times when she left her lights on in the car, just be careful where you chose ! You could always ring and enquire like we did with multistory

Many supermarket car parks have the signs up allowing 2 or maybe 3 hours parking these days. Presumably the one in Caernarfon didn't? Does the app identify which are free and which do have these charges?

Is this the one at Meadowhall (Tinsley)?

If so YPS state that parking is suitable for vehicles up to the size of a large 4x4. It also states that parking is £3 and if you put in an exit time for before 10am tomorrow it is still £3.

Reading the reviews it looks like quite a lot of people use it to park when visiting Sheffield Arena so a lot of them would be none Premier customers.

I believe that Premier car parks are run by Horizon so it may be worth contacting them? If you type in Meadowhall on their website it does offer none guest parking at that Premier Inn.

I would add that the car park at Tinsley does have height barriers so it would depend on the height of your vehicle.

I've seen a clip on YouTube of a guy using the ap to park in a premier inn carpark for a couple of quid .

With any of these parking spaces just remember you have to pre-book to avoid being charged a so called fine. Tesco and premier inn generally have cameras that read your number plate.

If you drive in before booking the system will log you as a non paying vehicle and after the restricted time expires you’ll logged and billed.

I've only used this service occasionally when going to football (Sainsbury's)
Quite often I arrive before booked time but that doesn't appear to be a problem
To be honest I have been ticketed a few times in the past by supermarket parking contractors .
Never actually paid

Sorry GMJ, I did mean to say at Caenarfon we did prebook and paid. Overall it was about £4.
To Robmac, it is not Tinsley, it is near junction 6.
We have stayed at Premier Inns before (not in the campervan) and there was a lot of fuss about registering car number. We still received notification at one near Bradford, even though we had registered. The hotel managed to cancel it.
I will try and phone them just to be sure. It really is handy for where I'm running.
Thanks all for the quick responses.

Many Premier Inn carparks are run by a totally separate company, when you arrive, you or reception often have to fill in two car park registrations, one is for the car park company and covers you for use of carpark, other is for Premier Inn and is if they need to contact you re your vehicle.

Yourparking will have registered the vehicle with parking company surely

The post I replied to was about use of carpark by Premier Inn customers
Yes, we have had that and we still had one of the parking companies try it on. As I said above, the hotel managed to cancel it.
As others have said, you need to book and pay before turning up. They either have ANPR or someone checks at night. So long as your number is registered all is OK. Just worried about the Premier Inn one. I can't see them being happy about overnighting in their car park. Will check before we go.

I noticed that every single carpark in YPS has a 'disclaimer' saying something like "suitable for large 4x4" so is it possible for a motorhome to be disqualified from using it?

I have contacted the said Premier Inn and was told the carpark is nothing to do with them. So long as I register and prepay they don't have a problem! The guy I spoke to on the reception said that Your Parking Space manage the car park.
They lost out, because I was going to book a couple of nights in the hotel, but overnight the price went up £100. Apparently it is Dynamic Procing. It updates every 6 hours.
