got pulled yesterday 10pm by mr plod good evening do you know your number plate light is intermitanley flashing oh no officer i didnt know that well he said i could give you a ticket for that ? but when he over took me then pulled me up i said to the mrs his brake light is not working anyway i said dont be silly its only probley that bumpy road ive just come down thats made the bulb loose well came the old reply you should check your lights and tyres before you set off out it was the bumpy road i said anyway ur offside brake light aint working i says so you should check yours i did he said well so did i, at this point they got back in there car and drove off talk about laugh.

I suspect they let these minor light affairs go by during the day so the have a reason to pull you at night and then it's "can you blow into this sir". Just a theory!

The "flickering light" is just a reason to pull you over and have a look in your vehicle and to see if your speech is slurred or if they can smell alcohol.

They can't say "Your rear light is out" (unless it is) because you can walk round and show it working. But flickering is OK!

It is funny how the flickering lights always seem to occur after say 10.30 pm and rarely in the early evening.

Still it could be worse, they might have used the Anti Terrorism Act and locked you up incognito for a month or so.
