Woohoo I am a Wildcamper at last

Hazy-thoughts

After what seems like for ever in the planning, I can now officially call myself a Wildcamper (albeit only a baby in the practise)
I picked up my new home from Hamburg last Friday and drove back stopping two nights on the way home, I have since done two nights in the van and so far am loving it :D
All was well with the van on the journey home, the van appears to have a restrictor fitted which rather limited the speed, but hey who is in a hury.............Certainly not me :D

Took it for MOT and it passed with flying colours, I have sorted a little dodgy wiring to the front headlights and am very excited about what the forthcoming months will bring.

wild camper

well done . hope you have lots more wild camping days to come drive safely and restrictor will help to save on fuel costs .allan :)

Thanks Allan, yeah you are so right about the fuel costs, I was absolutely amazed to find that the van has done an average of over 35mpg from Hamburg home, albeit mostly motorway driving, but that is so much better than I expected. The steady 80-85 km per hour I can handle, it's just the getting passed by cyclists as I go up a hill that grates a little :D

your lucky with fuel .my compass only gives me 20mpg and 25 its a diesel on motorways but hopefuly price still dropping 97.9 in asda and tesco leeds slowly getting there .have a nice safe xmas and a happy new year.

I'm so jealous, we are going on our first trip to europe in March and that is when we intend to wild camp as much as poss. Scared to do it in this country, but have been on several trips to camp sites to test everything. You have a great time and carry on chilling, best wishes, Mary.

why are you scared to wild in this country  we do it all the time, and so do most on here. having gone through many posts about wilding there seems to be more probs abroad than over here, give it a try you may just enjoy yourself as for your trip to europe i hope you enjoy have a great time.

Glad to hear you got home safely. Excellent mpg I see maybe she's restricted as she is over 3.5tonne but sure someone else will know for certain. Happy wildcamping in that beauty.
Regards Tony

Good for you. It is great to hear someone new and excited by it all. Not that we have lost the love of it all but you can't retain that 'new and exciting' feel for ever (unfortunately).

I recall our first night with our first van. Took it to a favourite Dorset hill top carpark, that overlooks some fantastic coast and fields - woke in the morning in the fog  ........ not quite what we had in mind but at least we could see the funny side of it all :)
