Wissant France

About the best choice on the way home these days but there is also a private grassy aire just around the corner. Come out of the Aire at Wissant, turn left then first right and its a few hundred yards on your left. Empty when we were there last October.

Been there a couple of times. Get there early though as it's very popular.

Apparently this is just overnight parking - no services are available ...

Yes I think you are correct. Its also supposed to be €5 but nobody came for the money when we were there and no idea who owns it. There is also a car park similar to Wissant at Escalles just a bit further towards Calais with no service but it does (or did) have a no overnighting sign on it but vans still uses it.

We use Wissant quite a lot. The downsides are that some users seem to think fit to empty their cassette down the grey water grill, so that is sometimes a right mess, consequently we don't use the services there. Sometimes if you are parked near the road you can get woken up first thing in the morning from the few cars/ tractors that use it, ditto the coaches that use their dedicated area in the center of the aire when they go off on the school run. The upsides are that there are 2 decent restaurants just down the road, and quite a few more in the village (take the lane between the 2 restaurants and follow your nose to the sea). The upsides far outweigh the downsides and we wouldn't hesitate to continue using it. Just arrive as early as you can, it fills up very quickly.
