i saw a post where someone had a 60w tubler heater in their van over winter.
would this give enough heat to keep the van aired & free of damp ?
the tanks are drained & taps left on. would it depend on size of camper ?
any coments please.

Something like this?
Hylite IP55 80W Tube Greenhouse Heater - The Greenhouse People

To keep away damp the van just need to be slightly warmer than outside (it doesn't matter what the actual temperature is) and to have reasonable ventilation so that the warmer air takes more moisture with it as it leaves the van than the cold air that replaces it brings in. Although this is recommended for a 6' x 8' greenhouse I should think this would be fine for what you want as the van is much better insulated than a GH.

I have a 40w running at the moment. I cant differentiate between inside and out, windscreen still freezes over, but I suppose better than nothing.

60W of heat in a fairly poorly insulated RV in the dead of winter is going to make so little difference that I suspect you would just be wasting electricity

more heat

better option may be a bigger heater , but with a frost stat on it , i have i 1kw in mine at the mo, sounds like a waste of electricity, but as it only come on when the temp drops below about 2 deg c its not using that much at the mo, i guess it depends if your wanting frost protection, or just airing

thank you all for your help & advice.
i got a small oil filled radiator with 3 power settings 400 , 600 & 1000 watt. it also has variable thermostat settings.
the poor girl is now ready for any weather we may get which i can't say for myself.

I would be tempted to run it at 1000 Watts on the minimum temp. That way it will be able to keep it frost free. Insulation needs to be looked at but don't try and seal the van as you need air movement. I am told covers work but have never used them apart from the windows which make a big difference.
