I live in Scarborough but when i read this in our local paper today i could not believe the petty-ness of some people,i know most of the campers- motorhomers pay for a 24 hr ticket but even if people do turn up late and leave early and dont buy a ticket who cares! The council get more than enough off of us and if any one can get a bit of "ought for nout" GOOOOOOOOD!!! Sorry cant upload file but i think you will get the idea of what i am trying to point out!

I get the point, but i would like to see the article, what paper is it in i can look on tyhe internet for it, we always pay for parking no matter what time we arrive, we also spend money in the supermarkets, shops and pubs, probably more than a daytripper, I really dont know whats their problem. It woiuld be a very sad time if all motorhomes stopped going, they would soon feel the pinch me thinks

don't make sense  where do they move to in the morning where they don't have to pay.between 6pm and 9am it's free anyway but we always get a £6 ticket to cover 24hrs

Same here we go to Scarborough regularly, pays our parking fees no matter what time of day and we spend a small fortune up there.

John.

The landlady of the Newcastle Packet also complaining, and thats where me and my mate and our wives use regularly when parked up.

John.

i now know where they are talking about it's a layby parking opposite the packet pub on the harbour wall for blue badge holders i have to agree with them on this point ,we have seen vans there weeks at a time it spoils it for the rest of us and gives them ammunition,we are not classed as individuals but as one body so 2 or 3 doing it wrong cancels out 50 of us doing it right.

Scarborough evening news under letters, also under the Diary page, this is a new complaint, not about the blue badge holders, the photo shows motorhomes behind the lifeboat building,i can email the article across to anyone who pm's me and then they might be able to post it

Thats where we usually park up, if you pay the fees then you should be able to park for 24 hours. Can't see a problem there.

John.

not the article in this weeks paper!i have scanned it from the paper but cant post it but i can email it on if anyone wants, just PM me

I have read the article, thanks for posting it, like i have said, we spend loads in Scarborough, or anywhere else for that matter, I very rarely shop for anything at home other than food, we even have our breakfast in the Crown Carvery at Scalby, very nice too I have to say, we go in the pub, walk round the town and spend money so I dont know where Mrs know it all at the pub gets her ideas from, does she follow everyone round seeing how much they spend, stupid idiot. oooooo it makes me mad

WIND UP

Read the article again and look at the date Traders' anger at camper vans - Local - Scarborough Evening News

It is an article from 2007 not todays paper.

Had a look at the on-line edition.

This letter only.

Make caravan owners pay up - Letters - Scarborough Evening News

As I said before the article posted by the OP was of 2007 origin and no reference to that article was made in the letter in dated 13th May 2011 or comments in the on line version.

If this is not the right one please call it up and click copy on the top of the page where it says HTTP:/www.Scarborough etc on the correct one and then post it. If the article is not in the on line version this week post the scan please, so that correct up-to-date info is seen by those of us who cannot read it, so that it can be discussed properly. Comments made by someone years ago have little relevance to the situation today.

I cannot PM anfi1 for a copy as he is not a member so this facility is not available.

Hi John, this is my email,davep@hotmail.es send me an email and i will send on the article by return, the section diary is not available on line and because i scanned it from the paper it want attach as it is too many bytes but i can send it via email,

Cheers Dave

I have now read the email from Anif1 and again it does not refer to any individuals complaining but to previous letter that have been printed but that I am not able to be read. The one comment on the latest letter from a well known poster on forums has now been removed.

I understand that this area is free parking overnight anyway so I can only take the letter and diary entry as sour grapes by some residents, who probably don't know that the parking for EVERYONE at that time is free. Would they pay to park at that time?

If they don't want us there spending money in the town, then stay away from the place,
but to take a 2007 article forward to 2011 is wrong as people have a right to change their opinion.
