Windy in Wales

Jeez it's windy isn't it. Travelling earlier I had to skirt around a few downed trees to get to my destination. Now I'm here it's wild, wet and windy. Strange weather for June. Stick this in your pipe you climate change unbelievers!

:scared:

I THINK I'm glad we're home from Wales, although it's still a little bit windy here in Cornwall, but at least dry! Which part of Wales are you in?

I'm not sure but I would call it central west wales. In the middle of the Cambrian mountains if that makes sense. :cool1:

'tisnt climate change we dont believe, it's that mythical global `warming`:yeahthat:

Don't forget your 'drought proof coats' when you go outside................

every time we get some "unseasonal " weather someone claims it aint happened before and must be climate change.... ive worked largely outdors all me life... weve always had unseasonal weather.... not every year.. but it happens... people indoors in the dry just dont normally notice the weather.

nearly 40 years ago i took me tractor driving test in july in torrential rain..... any farmer can tell tales of trying to make hay in torrential rail , or combine harvesters stuck in muddy fields.... if yer out in it you remember if yer sat in a heated building and go home in a dry car you just dont remember the weather.

the weather changes from year to year ... but climate over say a tenor fifteen year period dont seem to be changing . we aint getting nowt we aint had before .

Sorry, but climate change is a fact - whether we are talking about the kind of long-term cycles that bring us ice ages or short-term 14 year cycles based on sunspot activity. The overall effect is that sea level temperatures across the globe have increased by around 0.75 Celcius over the past century (hence the oft-used but misleading phrase "global warming"). Small temperature increases such as this can cause dramatic shifts in the paths of the weather belts with the result that some regions have dramatically hotter or drier or cooler or wetter weather than in previous periods. Something like 8 of the ten hottest years in the UK since records began have been in the past decade, so our climate is changing. The reason we think it is no hotter (or even cooler) than before is because most of that warming here in the UK has been over the winter period (there are, on average, 20 to 30 days fewer air frosts than in the 1960s, for example). Change is a fact and has been since dinosaurs were young. What is in dispute is the degree to which man's activity is contributing towards the current changes. Now that is a whole different argument......:)
