Hello guys, I'm in the process of rebuilding a camper van which is a transit coach built bus, I'm wondering if it really is worth my while insulating the ceiling as the van has so many large windows all the way around, not sure insulation will make much difference. the body of the van is fibreglass the ceiling double skinned fibreglass and my main form of heating is a wood burner.

looking forward to some input :)

cheers

My guess would be - every little helps. And nothing is more important than the roof: heat rises.
Even with a woodburner, you'll appreciate as much temperature stability as possible, or you'll be roasting or freezing all night. I had a converted minibus - but still appreciated every bit of insulation I had. Interestingly - the roof was already insulated by the coachbuilder, who probably knew what they were doing...

And you can buy thermal lining for curtains - which should help when the curtains are drawn at night.

We did the Mercedes with Knauf wool with a 1000g polythene vapour barrier, then put 300mm wide lengths of UPVC cladding over it.

It stops condensation more than anything else, but with a fibreglass roof you may well get away with 25mm Kingspan or something like that.

We have 14 feet of windows both sides.
