Good evening all
A quick intro: I work for a large mental health charity. I love my job but desperately need to escape now and again and at age 53 I wish to try my hand at wild camping.
My long suffering partner (who loves fishing - see where I am going with this?) has sort of agreed to help me look around for a campervan about a transit size, preferably that blends in a bit, but also wont break the bank to buy.

I need to fulfil my desire to keep body and soul together by leaving the stresses and strains of my very satisifying (but hard!) job behind and heading for the hills, lakes and lochs.
I figure that there will be a wealth of experience on here and maybe, just maybe a campervan with my name on!
Thank you all for reading my ramblings, its very much appreciated, and please do get in touch or post your thoughts.

Hi Shiningivy,

Welcome to the site. I would recommend you visit a couple of dealerships and have a good look at whats on offer and at what price. You can then make a list of must haves and a list of would likes. You can then see what you need to spend. Ask any questions and someone should be along soon with an answer.

Regards
Richard

Escapism!!

Hi
You don't say whether you want to escape for weekends away or full time?
We tax and insure our van all year round so that we can escape whenever we can! This is our sanity!
I work in education and at 5,. I am dreaming about the day when we can say we are going away for 3 months!! The bigger picture however, is a big step to take. I think that if you are pushed, and have to take the plunge into the unknown, then, you make the move and many people have said that it was the best thing that ever happened! I am not brave enough yet but think that one day, I might snap - and then, who knows!!

Thanks to all

I knew I was going to fit in on here.............thanks!

We had a Mazda Bongo for 5 years before moving to our 6 berth Talbot.

It is still being used by the people who bought it in the next village. It never
let us down and is Transit/VW size. A basic Camper but you could use it daily.

Worth a look at the Bongo Fury site where members sell their Bongo's.

Best of luck with the search.

you dont have to be mad to post on here .but it helps if you are. i stealth in the bongo in summer then try to look like an artic truck in winter abroad. you may find what you need on this site . but do you want a transit . ?have you tried to get a minibus from work . keep the name on the side nobody will trouble you . thats a good stealth move. if they do open the door and go waaaaaaaboooooo that will give you the edge. ha ha . can i have one .

You have made a bad choice by joining this forum.

You said you wanted to get away from work....well the nutters on here will keep you busy (and depress you no doubt). At least they are harmless, well, most of them. Just some of them really. OK, one or two are harmless. :danger:

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the search. :welcome:
