Hi does any know of any good spots cheap to stay in the salou area? or even that side of spain? im heading there in june for 9 weeks and looking for cheapish places to stay in as we have 3 kids they need some thing to do. Iv priced one campsite in salou and they want €3500, for 8 weeks. I would go to proper sites but this is crazy money. Ferry is booked so fare. Any help or if you know of any nice places to stay in handy money pls tell me. I dont mind paying some money but not this high price. Thanks gain Garry:eek:

I have never wild camped in Salou, I think it's a bit to "posh" to allow it.

But around (La Pineda, Cambrils, La Mora (by Tamarit), Mont Roig etc) there are lots of beaches where you can stay for a night or two.

I have got co-ordinates but I can't find the book I have written them in, if I find it I will post a few.

The easiest way is to head for the beaches, you will find a camper somewhere, then ask where to wild camp locally. The Germans, Dutch and of course Belgians, will all tell you where to go for the night.

I am not sure if this is your first trip to Spain, if it is let me know and I will dig a few hints and tips out.

Starblazer has been going down that area for years for winter if he's not there now i'm sure he will recommend a few

I worked in Reus for a while which is just inland from Salou. There is a world of difference in just a couple of miles, especially with prices. This was long before I had a m/home, so I cannot recommend anywhere but you might get a much cheaper site or find a wilding spot for the night. It will only be 10 minutes in a taxi to Salou.

BTW, I am surprised at the remark about Salou being posh. In the early nineties, the double decker buses brought hundreds of Brits over on cheap holidays. Sad to say, these morons made me ashamed to be British.

OK, Salou is not that posh, what I was trying to say is that the wilder and less populated areas are more amenable to wild camping.

Anyway, I found my book, here are some from it, all wild camping so remember they might have moved, been stopped etc., but they were there last time I visited 1/2/3 years ago.

Around Salou / Tarragona. * means degrees cos I can't find the sign.

Passeig de Torroja Tarragona by Via Sant Antoni (no lat / long )

Playa Llarga 41*7.77 N 1*18.21 E

Mont-Roig Bahia Platja Pixerota off N340 turn right to Mont Roig then immediate right down beach road. Past Platja Arenal over bridge turn right and right down to bottom.

Constanti Centcelles 41*9.31N 1*13.46E

If you need more let me know.
