Hi
I'm a big fan of our national parks. Not the officialdom that tends to go with them, but the idea that we should have spaces that can't be easily built on. Spaces to just wander around and enjoy the diversity of these isles. So I have that in my head when I wildcamp in them.
My tips:
Spend some time exploring where you are during the day. If there's a little sign for a picnic area, or a rough road without keep out signs, then go and have a look. You might be surprised at what you find
Check the parking signs to see when parking regulations go up to. It can be anything from 5pm up to 9pm. That's an indication of when wardens head home. If there's no parking regulations then you've probably hit gold
Once you've found
two possible overnighting spots go and enjoy yourself in the park, because that's what it's all about. Have your tea, go for a walk, take the dog for a walk, whatever.
Around 9pm go and check out your overnighting spots. Do you feel comfortable in the first? If so then settle down for the night. If not you can move on to the second. I've always found that one of them is right for me.
Trust your instincts
These are invariably quiet spots so I get my head down well before midnight, and I'm normally up and about between 6 and 7 in the morning. That usually gives me an hour or two to enjoy a morning in a forest, or on a deserted coastline. Some me time
Then I try to move on before it starts to get busy. Leaving nothing behind but good memories...
