I’m back.
WOW what a weekend and that’s before I mention the racing.
Where should I start ?
A good place would be the beginning.
My SAT nav would not accept the post code so my son loaned me his because he knew where he was going.
George (7 year old grandson) and I set off first
Mistake number 1
The Sat nav kept telling me to turn round so we switched it off.
Mistake number 2
I headed for 11A turn off on the M6 Then pulled into services (I have not mastered services yet) well maybe I have now.
Tried to phone son and daughter in law, but found out later both their phones were on mute (no mother in law jokes) bt we did make contact in the end.
Anyway you have probably guessed I had taken the wrong turning.
Decided to go to next turn off and luckily there was a sign for the M54
Everything was ok until I think I took the third turn off instead of the first.
Anyway we got there in the end we did 100 miles instead of 8? Miles.
Then switched the gas on and tried to light the stove
I did a thread a little while ago about how my stove flame goes very low when I put the gas fire on.
Well neither the fire nor the stove was having any of it. Luckily Carl had his generator and plugged my fan heater in but it was my old caravan that was the perfect warm and cosy restaurant and gathering place.
I had refilled my water tank a quarter full for the weekend but I was advised to switch my pump off and leave my taps open because of the freezing
George was sleeping in Gladys and I talked him out of sleeping up top and he slept with me underneath 3 duvets and a very, very thick blanket as Carl had to switch of the genni.
Sunday I have an icicle hanging from my kitchen tap.
Later we investigated the gas situation.
Well last Feb/March I went out for a weekend and had trouble with my gas and to cut a long story short I had mistakenly put an empty bottle into the gas box. So ended up with both gas bottles empty. They say you learn by your mistake well I am hoping I have after the second time of doing it.
I’ll let you know later if this is the cause of my fire and stove problems but don’t go taking bets because I know I might be on a loser.
Anyway nobody discouraged me from going out in these freezing conditions. I didn’t realize it would be so B----- COLD.
And to top it all we were stood outside watching the kids racing on their bikes.
Our George as gone up to the next group 65 (he was in auto’s) and is where he was 12 months ago learning the ropes. Carl says he has got maybe 3 seasons in this group and looking at the size of some of these lads our Georgie looks so little and young.
BUT he kept on and did not fall off on the icy track.
Anyway I can chuckle to myself about my exploits oh and yes we got home no problem-----oh well maybe one George decided to have a wee only he didn’t know I had removed the cassette to empty --- he looked mortified for at least 2 seconds.
The Lad Himself
Last minute team talk
Georges (25) friend Elliott is number 81 Elliotts first race since he broke his leg last season
Tractor had to get in on the act somewhere
Our Camp ---- C & CC and the CC would have something to say about this!!
They had just finished the last race and were waiting on the news of a rider -- a broken wrist was the outcome
some of the campers and day visitors
Hope you enjoyed my weekend like I did
