hi to you all
later this year we are going to the weat coast of france,
it`s our first time, where have you camped wild.
we dont realy want to be totally alone so some advice would be very helpful.
i have heard of farms where your welcom to stay and can buy local produce.
our trip starts in roscoff.
many thanks
willis.

you will not be alone Willis, you will find loads of wild campers along the coast

I wouldnt worry Willis, There are plenty of aires to stop,

lufcdave has given you the link to the France Passion scheme.

the one thing to remember with France Passion is alot of the sites only take one van, you state you dont want to be alone, so you might not get the most out of it.

There are plenty of aires to stop at & you an use sites such as CAMPINGCAR INFOS or of you are looking at farm sites CAMPING A LA FERME
Aires at the more popular places usually charge but there are loads of free ones. France & Germany are the 2 best countries in Europe for motorcaravanning.

france

If you use the aires you will me plenty of people. Most people will talk to you ,give you plenty of advice and recommend other stops and places of intrest to visit.ENJOY YOURSELF.:)

Bretagne

Hi Willis,
Also have a look at:
http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/france/3886-finisterre-departement-29-part-3-a.html
No problem for wilding in Bretagne. (exept in some places at the nordcoast of Côtes d'Armor). Very safe everywhere, and surely you will not be alone. Beside wilding there are a lot of 'aires' too.
France Passion is very good, but for most of the hosts are winegrowers you will only find a handfull of them in Britany. If they state they only accept 1 or2 vans: mostly this is to avoid to fall under official camping regulations - they generally have more space.
Have a good trip
Leo

Hi and welcome, I had a house near Roscoff for 9 years and
I can assure you, you can camp free of charge in most towns, there is an aire in Roscoff or you can park on the top carpark of the terminal, the next aire South on the coast road toward Santec is 50 metres from the most beautiful beach you will ever see,its paradise, like a South seas beach with pure white sand, the aire is behind a pizza restaurant with a machine for leccy/water, if you go toward Morlaix on main road there is a free aire in St Pol de leon alongside the estuary, go into Morlaix and see the market on Saturday morning, park up by the Station or up by the Marina (both free) , great aire just out of Morlaix past the airport at Locquiric, its on the left before the town ON the beach, take your rods for Bass off the rocks, nice coast walk into town, enjoy:D

Hi

You say you don’t want to be on your own. Your going to Brittany in August. You wont be!!! We went around Brittany twice last year. First in June and then early August. Even in June there were lots of vans but in August there were loads. We tend to like places on our own mixed in with joining others on Aires or wild spots. If your using Aires in August get there around 2-3pm or 10am. They will be busy. Plenty of wild spots in Brittany if you search them out. Below is a picture of the Erquy Aire in Brittany in August. Barmy but quite good fun. We didn’t stay though!

A lovely wild spot not far from Dinard

And here is one I have the GPS for at Douarnenez (bit further south and west of Roscoff)

48.104058 -4.285946 put this into Google Earth

Took me an hour to find this place on the bike. We could see it from the road miles away in the town but could not find a way down the cliffs to it. After ages on the bike we found a way down just (and really only just) big enough for the van. We had the place to ourselves.

You will have a great time in Brittany. Roscoff is nice but so is all of it. I prefer the North coast to the south as I think its prettier but others may say different. There are some lovely places inland as well such as Dinan and if you go inland you will find quieter places to stay. No toll roads and most Aires free. I want to go and live there!!!

Cheers
Barry

what can i say...
