Wild camping with bus

Hiya - I'm new to this site and love it! I'm looking for some sound advice on the West Coast of Portugal. I would like to take a group or 10 down there on a kitesurf tour, but need to know how the authorities (and other wild campers) would view this. The bus would be a sleeper bus and we would like to BBQ and 'sit out' under an awning most nights. We would only stay one night on any one beach/site and would obviously leave the place as we found it...

Any thoughts on this would be gratefully accepted.

Many thanks Liz

hi .not saying you cant .but have a google on portal camping car portugal.
having things like awnings out and chairs etc is fround upon. you may get grief . depends on the time of the year as well.
but it may be seen as taking the piss. we do visit portugal in trucks manage ok . but you can get moved if alot of stuff is outside.
we now dont put anything out side .sit on the steps ok . but if the steps touch the floor you are camping .
have fun . you need peniche ,ericea, just below sines is another good one . buy the storm rider guide . lots of little places on it . but casn be difficult in a bigger vehicle . ocasionally i struggle but try hard to get to the special places.

you'll have a great time and theres plenty of places to stop.can't remember the name but theres one beach near lisbon where whole families live while renting out their apartments for the summer! you don't get that sort of behaviour in bournemouth!as you arrive at each beach you can see where the campers normally park, some places theres loads of them so you can pick up all the local goss

A friend uses this rig to wild camp in Portugal and it tows a huge trailer with the Jeep inside so as you can see large vehicles do wild.

if you get a bit more south,on the west coast, vila nova de milfontes is very pretty with a good beach,go southover the river bridge and take the track on the right.another good one is by aljezur,a village called monte clerigo, nice beach again, when you leave theres a dirt roadgoing up out of the village which is a great coastal track to drive along, good surface, carrapateira has grass to park on right next to a shallow lagoon surrounding a semi island of sand dunes, the water comes up to your chest and is warm and clear, another nice coastal dirt road leads from it,and theres a car park on the headland looking down on the main beach and a wooden stairway to it

gettng abit tight around porta cova and down to milfontanes .or they were two years ago. always worth a try . there is one place near malhadinha was a great place had a water tower on the beach made from bricks . got drinking water at the bottom outlet yet you could wash off the salt by using ahigher plug to pull out. .we say if going north keep the sea on your left be on the closest road to the sea. or vise versa. very often you arent on roads just tracks . but several places are available.

Very nice, Renaults a bit on the big side, but the G Wagen is very cool, and not to be confused with a Jeep. :lol-053: ;-)

LOL, my wife calls it a Jeep, actually it is a Mercedes but I don't know what, fabulous bit of kit though, the Rig lives in the Isle of Man

Mercedes G Wagen, G Class or Gelaendewagen. Yes fabulous bit of kit. But then I would say that. lol.

Guys, thanks so much for your posts... really appreciate it. I'm weighing up my pros and cons, any further advice would be welcome. :pc:
