Hi this is only our second trip we have been travelling for just over 4 weeks we started in Dunkirk visited Belgium, travelling through France stayed at some lovely places then crossed into Spain. First night we stayed at Morella lovely spot then moved on to Peniscola then to Benicassim. Previously we stayed by the dried up river bed in Benicassim along with many other vans but now its a paved walkway and there is large construction works going on there. Managed to stay for a couple of nights then moved on again. Wild Camped for a couple of nights and now we are currently at Alfaz del Pi at the Aire. It is so different from last year we haven't spoken to an english person since we arrived in Spain! where are all the English people staying? is no one wild camping in Spain this year?

Any updates would be appreciated.

Not the best time of the year to come here this is our wet time better after christmas. Just outside Madrid for a few days on a friends farm but moving back to Alicante next week . Have a nice stay and take care.:have fun: ken

Alfaz del Pi at the Aire I don't know that one do you have the Sat Nav co ordinates I see from Google map that it is above Benidorm Please

Sounds like you are having a great trip. We loved that area of Spain, Costa del Azahar. We stayed in the Alcossebre area during the winter a few years back.

12 euro a night

Found this on google.. val

Beware of apparently dryed up river beds (Rambla) in Spain from September to Christmas. They are in fact active and carry high volumes of water to the sea from many miles inland, It may not be raining where you are or even look like rain but storms further inland on the mountains could come down as a flash flood. This happend in Spain last week killing two people who were sitting at a market cafe in a Rambla.

Two years ago two artics were washed into the sea at El Portus. Their Polish drivers had parked for the night. Fortunately the drivers escaped with their lives but a very large crane had to be brought in to lift them back to dry land.

L'ALFAS DE PI (Camper Park Costa Brava) N38 35.018'W000 04.906' is in the Aires Book and advertises 12 euros a night inc wifi showers 1 euro
very clean and friendly site. When we arrived the leaflet they gave us has been changed to 9 euros a night inc wifi showers .50 cents so that was a bonus.
Still here at the moment and its been raining since yesterday afternoon non stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at Morella when we first crossed into Spain and expected to stay a couple of days at Peniscola. Last year we parked up on the small coach park right on the sea front during the day (only allowed there until 8pm) then we moved to a rough but flat parking area just off the roundabout. However this year the 'rough but flat parking area' has been refurbished, tarmac etc so we stayed for a few hours then decided to move on to Benicassim expecting to park up there no problem. As we were leaving a guy gave us a leaflet :-
Parking Autocaravaning
www.stopandgolavolta.com
hand written 'From 6 euros/night' N40 23' 52.60'' E0 24' 11.19'' we didn't look at this we just moved on.

When we arrived at Benicassim the 'usual area by the river bed' is no longer there it's been changed into a lovely walk through (no cars) flagged, trees etc and the sea front near the river bed is ungoing some redevelopment.
However we did manage to stay for 4 nights we parked at the front during the day and moved at night. We spent 2 nights up at the Aire,N40 03.301 E000 03.566' not very pretty but safe we didn't park on the Aire 'lay-by' we parked with a couple of trucks opposite the Guardia Civil - no problem! the other 2 nights we spent on the road next to Lidl with 1 or 2 other vans - Just don't park opposite the skate board place - noisy until 9pm. N40 03.427' E0 04.199'

We just didn't see many other vans and all and as I said no English people at all!!

Hi Ken do you have any suggestions for places to stay free or in expensive between here and Nerja?

We prefer Wild Camping but that can be very unreliable week to week. As you know.

Hi Belka, you could try the marina at El Campello or alongside the filling station (not so nice) at the end of town. Also at the spot on the coast road from Gran Alicante going towards Santa Pola. Then there's La Marina on the rough car parks behind the seafront restaurant, or the car park next to the Mercadonna at km 51 on the N332.
I hope these are a help to you.

Try Torre Del Mar

Next to the Laguna Playa Campsite there is a huge space, next to the sea - toilet dump & water also available - that's where we are - green merc sprinter self build - will be staying another couple of nights . There are one or 2 brits. There is also a dutch guy & his wife who are very friendly -who have been staying there a couple of weeks. A lot we have spoken to are heading to Morocco.
Probably won't get back on internet while tomorrow night, laptop battery is flat.

Possible weather warning.

The Region of Murcia is on alert for a possible Gota Fria this week-end.

Near Madrid very hard to find some fee camping, but now this time of the year plenty of places near Alicante on the coast and inland. If you dont find any were to park, next week when i get back if you let me know were you want to stay i can ask around for you.

This is what I like about this site.....people putting themselves out and making interesting posts that can be referred to
again and again. At the moment I have no intention of going to Spain.....but I hope to perhaps next year....and you can
bet I'll be reading this post and others like it a few times over before I do actually go.....great stuff!:have fun:
