We love the village of Garstang in Lancashire but find that the main Caravan Sites - firstly expensive - are usually full. anyone out there have any good wild ( or cheap sites) very close to the village.:)

Hi teen ...

Not sure how long that you are looking to stay over for - but - there is a large stopover point just a mile or so north of Garstang, on the right-hand side of the A6 at Cabus, called Woodfold Lane.

It is actually an access road for a couple of nearby houses so the usual Courtesy Rules of Wilding apply - but it is used nightly by truckers so is very safe (and the bonus is that there is a rather good butty van there for your breakfast in the morning if you don't feel like cooking for yourself). If that happens to be full (which is very rare) then there is a much smaller layby on the opposite side of the road a couple of hundred metres further South (again with its' own Butty Van).

David.

Thanks for this - added to the database :)

Hi Teen,
Garstang and the surrounding area is one of our favourite spots as well. We often stay at a cl site near Cockerham. It has all hard standing, electricity, water, dump and very easy access for large units, all for £8.50 per night.
Owners: Sue and Charlie Rossall, France hill Farm, 01524 791650.

Thanks for the help

Will look into the advice - I think I have seen the pull in with the butty van but will look harder next time - I will also make enquiries about the cl. Thanks for the help.
