We are hoping to spend a month wildcamping in Scotland this summer. Anything a bit off the beaten track would be great. We can't seem to find anywhere just north of the border on the western coast....any suggestions?

We know there is a toilet block with showers at the Kyle of Lochalsh does anyone know of any more? We don't have a shower on board so plan to find one every 2-3 days.

Thanks for any help.

Rae :)

Welcome to the site Rae.
What do you need a shower for in Scotland? plenty of Mountain streams:D and only dirty beggars wash:p
Lots of public loo's around for you to wash in, and a good bucket of hot water for doing the rest, in a secluded spot.;)
Failing that local swimming pools have showers.
Have a good trip.

Happy Camping:)

Showers and Drinking water

Hi,
Just returned from 15 days in the Highlands 14 of them wild camping.
A note on showers
in Torriden adjacent to the camping only site there is a new toilet block with hot and cold water.....and free electric showers. :)

At Sheildaig just past the staithe there is a new toilet block with free hot and cold water but no showers.
the tap on the staithe is mains drinking water but please leave a donation for upkeep in the red box.

For the last 30 years we have used a tap at the highways depot at lochinver this is on the B869 at the juction with the A837 the tap is on the right at the side of the sand bays.

Regards

Alf
