Apologies if I’m missing something, it’s been a while since I used the wild camping app. We are intending to go to Denmark and Sweden, maybe Norway if time permits, when I zoom in to the areas we are interested in nothing is appearing?? Does this app cover these 3 countries????
Thank you

Our norwegian gathering in the summer will add places to stay in norway and sweden , the trip starts in june and finishes in september , hope to see you on the road somewhere , keep an eye on the gathering section for our locations

Sadly this is all there is on the WC app, but other apps are available.

Going a little off subject.
I understand that regular shopping items, excluding booze, I mean groceries and the like. Can be extremely expensive, in Scandinavia.

Therefore

Would you take plenty of UK items with you.?And is there anything that the local authorities would take exception to?

Trotter stock up in germany before crossing into denmark ! There are really large supermarkets lining the main roads just before the border, prices in germany are about equal to uk and some items are alot cheaper bier/ wine sausages etc

Last year the prices where higher than UK, esp. IIRC meat, but not as high as previously due to a big change in exchange rate, also last year diesel in Sweden was relatively cheap due to a tax drop, not sure if is ongoing.

Thanks all.
I asked this question because of a situation I’m in at the moment. It is stopping my usual Iberian trip. I usually go late January, early February to get away from the horrors of the British late winter, very early spring.

It looks like I’ll be at home until the end of March,( in like a lion, out like a lamb). And the start of the better weather.

So, I should have the wherewithal, and the Schengen allowance to do something else. Scandinavia sounds good, never been. So, go while I’m still able? Sounds like a plan.
Time will tell.😬

I disagree about all prices being higher in Scandi, some are, some aren’t. The overall experience makes it a far better region to holiday in.

There are masses of off grid areas to park up, and many toilet dumps. Fresh drinking water is readily available at all service stations in my experience and they seem offended if you ask to pay for it.

My plan. Me, plan?
My plan was to go to Sweden, Norway via Hull-Rotterdam, immediately after the Druridge meet.
So late August, trying for the full Schengen allowance.
Mozzies? Am I likely to have a problem? Is there a better time to go there.

Having no real restrictions on when and where I go, after Druridge. I can plan a trip to Austria, Czech Republic, for example.
As always, advice would be appreciated
Thanks for reading

Del, north norway 2018 first frosts 23 rd August, heavy snow 14thseptember 2 foot overnight , yes great location if your van is winterised and you do enough miles to keep batteries charged as little solar, plus side not many people around , amazing northern lights , playing in snow and ice , abisko lake northern sweden frozen over and towing the ice fishing huts out with a snow mobile at end of november , if your bones dont feel the cold just go its a wonderful place

These elderly bones don’t do well in the cold. There’s a reason why I go towards the Med Januaryish.
A fair weather friend, me? I’m a fair weather everything.
Back to drawing board 😬

https://ibb.co/RCWtBSD When we did a trip to Norway via Germany Denmark Sweden and then into NORWAY at GRONG we had no problems finding wild camping and lots of official stopovers all free with water and cassette emptying , earth dumps toilets so our trip was very easy and great and despite what folks say we found our trip very reasonable, we took loads of food with us and drinks , bought food on route too , we used the ferry from Germany to Denmark drove through Denmark and got a ferry top end of Denmark to Sweden and drove up through Sweden turning LEFT way up as we saw signs for GRONG and that is where we entered Norway , we encountered NO OFFICIALS on our route so all very easy our trip back was via The ORESSUND BRIDGE great experience and cost the same as the two ferries combined so that was good , we had no real plan and just followed our nose as we always do and the experience was fantastic
