Wild camping in Blackpool

Hi gents and Ladies could anyone tell me if it is still possible to wild camp at the fleetwood end of the prom near Bispham tram station in the big lay-by as I'm coming up for the car rally on Friday but marshalling in Preston on Friday night and just need somewhere to crash for the night before Saturday's stages but not to far to travel in to blackpool.

If you mean Cleveleys sea front (Princess way?) then there are parking restriction in place now.

Try the Aires at Lytham St Annes. £5 for the night.

I'm also watching the Rally and plan to stay here

Lytham

parked up in Lytham last year near some bowling club - no probs it was on POI. There were a couple of spots there if I recall. Never stayed in Cleveleys prom - rat run for traffic and it was noisy.

If you park on the front if fromt of AKEQM SCHOOL far end of st annes just before fair-heaven lake. then you should be ok.

what rally is this??

Stanley Park area, lots of runners early evening (2 gyms near by) but gets quieter later on. Not many places in Blackpool as the council is not very motorhome friendly with their street parking/weight limits. i have seen other vans using it.

wild camping

was down that way a few weeks ago. Don't know area at all but found a place that might do for you. Follow the A584 from Blackpool past Lythma St annes and Frickleton. About 200m before it's junction with the A583 is a left turn. Looks like it used to be a shortcut up to Clifton. Any way this road is blocked off at the A583 leaving a lane a couple of hundred metres long. Parked there with no problems. Only one house in area at the junction. If you get stuck with the directions let me know and I will try and clarify.

Ian.

As said this spot will be fine ( i live 10 mins away ) but be aware that you can only access it from the A584 ( Preston New Road )
as the other end A583 ( Blackpool Road ) is now blocked off with Bollards.

It is less than 10 Mins away from " Preston Traxs Motorsport Centre " for the Friday Night stages.

Try and find it in daylight because once it goes dark you`ll miss it.

It did indeed used to be a Short Cut to save you going to the Traffic Lights but there was several " Fatal Accidents " and that is
why it got blocked off.

If you park in the middle you`ll be far enough away from either road so traffic noise shouldn`t be a problem.

You are also ( within sight ) of " Campbells Motorhmes " new location, you`ll see all the vans over the hedges and access is off
the A583 ( Blackpool Road ).

Hope this helps.

Hi Dave and Mary , nice to see you sampling some good old northern hospitality  All of the car parks in and around lytham and ST Annes have no overnight parking for motorhomes stickers on them usually . I don't know if it was a while ago when you visited, or if it has been peeled off :giggle:( u can see the mark!) but the only carpark that's legal is the ST annes 'aire' one mentioned in the thread . I know the place you stayed in ,your right it's a great location ! Ps no sticker, no unauthorised parking !

Hi yes we had a good time up there ( the wind and the rain is a lot better than we get down here ) It was the end of september we were there and it said nothing about no parking over night, there was 3 vans in there one night. but thanks for the info, will know next time.

As far as i am aware the only " Official " overnight parking spot is the Car Park by the Cinema whos entrance is opposite
East Bank Road off South Prom.

None of the other Car Parks are included yet as the " Trial Period " is still ongoing.

Thanks for all the replies had a drive up last night to Preston to look at the trax site and see if it would be okay to stay the night as I'm doing a passage control there Friday night and Saturday afternoon now so no point in moving but might have too as it is all gated so don't want to get locked in till morning. Funny as usually do the pc at the Clifton stage opposite the farm on the rear entrance of the sewage works must be near where you are on about.
