SWMBO has just read a long running thread on Motorhome Fun about the antics of a few who are wild camping in Spain. Where do 80+ MH's get rid of their toilet waste when they are there for weeks on end. Looks like they just empty it where they can. Not surprising that the locals are getting fed up. Someone even spotted an RV with a Motorhome Fun sticker on discharging his toilet waste and then driving off..

We enjoyed our wild camping in Spain but are seriously thinking about going elsewhere this year. Chris ( POI Admin ) has said that the South of France is deserted so as the Med warms up we may well head that way and see what it's like.

Having wild parked in Spain for best part of 6 winters I can say that some lift manhole covers and dump. However some idiots have been known to dump into telephone manholes not Saneamentos.

Some areas are now introducing fines of 750 euro for dumping down manholes.

We used local Aires or Camper Stops once a week to 10 days to service our home. We had enough capacity on board for both fresh and waste to go that length of time.

In some areas in Spain all waste is fed into a hole in the ground (not a septic tank) where it rots and soaks away. Water is also collected from natural springs (Fuentes) not piped to every house. Water is also delivered to houses by tanker and fed to the house even in large villages, using a pump system just like a motorhome.

Spain is not the UK. They have their own rules and regulation which are not necessarily the same as those in the UK.

We avoided areas where large numbers of vans gathered, preferring to be on our own when possible. It is legal to park and occupy, but not camp, which is what we did.
