Wild camping for Vans & Tents in south scotland, ideas??

Hi all,

As some of you may know i've got a converted panel van that i've been away in a few times 'wilding' now and I love it.
However, i was planning on going away maybe early september for a weekend, but a few of my friends have decided they'd like to join my friend and I in our two vans.

I was thinking southern scotland as i've never camped up there, somewhere either right on a beach or shore of a loch for some scenery.

Does anybody know of any locations that are both suitable for vans and for friends to put up tents? We wont bo going crazy or being a nuisance, just usual stuff like go for a wander, build a small fire and have a few drinks, but as it may be for the full weekend - we wouldnt like to be to close to anyones dwelling as to cause a nuisance.

Many thanks in advance.

My instant thought was Loch Lomond. Loads of empty space on the shores and far enough from residents not to be any bother.

Thanks - are there any nice spots that anybody could suggest, maybe with sat nav co-ordinates??

Thanks again

It might be pushing a bit too far but across from the small fire station at Glenelg there is a small beach and in June when we were there there was about 4 tents and cars parked on the road also on the way to the Kylerhea ferry there is a beach for wild camping the village hall has showers and toilets open during the day only.

The spots at Loch Lomond are packed at weekends being close to Glasgow and the best spots at present are full of travelling folk ???

Regards

Alf

thanks for the info - i think that may be a bit too far north for us, as we'll be leaving newcastle on the friday at 4pm, so my friends would need to get to our final destination before dark to put tents up etc..

It will be first or second weekend in september we are planning our visit, hopefully it wont be as busy as it was in June for you in and around loch lomond.

Village hall info is good to know incase we do manage the trip to Glenelg - many thanks :D

Wildcamping & Fishing..Scotland.

Hi Folks, my favourite would be Loch Lubnaig beside Callander. Plenty off road areas for wildcamping, tenting, canoeing & fishing (with permit). We spent a weekend there recently & could have stayed a month.
Co-ordinates...56' 17'30"N 4' 18'0"W It is on the A84. But try Wikipedia for full gen & satellite imagery......regards.

So many nice places in one area!

Just googled loch lubnaig and it looks great.

I've got info on a few places in that area now, i might try and plan a week away and tour the area... looks great!

Just a few hours ago i was stuck where to go, now I cant decide lol !!

Many thanks again.

I shall post with where we end up.

Wez.
