We shouldnt worry to much about one night stops where ever we are beacause it takes the authorities weeks months or years to move on Gypsies so if we are spending one night and causing no trouble whats the problem .Please comment on this and post your views about any legalities thanks.

but these people are a ethnic minority group so deserve that privalage?next you'll expect them to pay taxes ect :(

Please be carefull of what you say as not to offend fellow motorhomers/Travelers who are/come from Romany stock and pay our dues to the goverment.

The problem is that the police will always go for the easy target, ie:- one M/home minding its own business. A lot easier to tackle than a layby full of caravans, pickup trucks, and fierce dogs and owners. To some MP's, caravanners, motorhomers, and gypsies are one and the same.

In some cases you are correct but please dont tar all with the same brush

When we toured around the UK in 2007 we has no problems finding nice little out of the way spots that did not attract any attention from locals or the "fuzz". Just look around before you park up for the night and if you are blocking someone's view of the sea/hills/moors/Nuclear power station then you are likely to get them phoning someone to get you moved on.

But I also have to say that we were appalled at the amount of rubbish left lying around some recently vacated sites - travellers are not doing themselves any favours by leaving so much mess for the locals to clean up after they leave. I can see why people get so upset when a group moves onto public land and leaves it looking like a rubbish tip.

Im married to an irish traveller, but we live a settled life and enjoy the freedom of having a camper. Your right there are different types of travelling foke and unfortunately the ones that go around creating havoc and leaving mess dont do the good ones and favours.

There are so many places to stop, one nights stop all over the place are plentyfull - on saying that, we have had problems in Ireland - north of dublin, boy racers, security guards etc.. quite a worry really.

all the best

The point i was trying to make was it must be hard to move someone on for staying just one night when it takes a lot of time and effort to move people on that decide to stay for weeks on end and that was an example.

Has anyone actually been moved on then before?

whilst stopping for a night.

Just wondering what the police's reasons would be.

Craig
