Wild camping advice

Hi all,

I have been motorhoming for about a year now and i am going to scotland for 2 weeks in August and want to do some wild camping. Can anyone advise me on locations and anything that might come in handy for my first wild camping tour. I have been told that all the laybys have signs saying no overnight parking, is this correct? Any coments will be helpfull.

Off the main roads (e.g. A9) you will see "No overnight parking" signs, but elsewhere generally you won't.

In the last couple of weeks I've overnighted in the cark park at the end of Glen Esk and in Glenshee above Braemar (which seems a very popular wild camping location) with no "no overnight" signs and no problem.

If you're intending heading way up the west or north coasts then there are so few people and cars about you're very unlikely to encounter any problems. There don't appear to have been any prosecutions for wild or roadside camping so the worst that is likely to happen (and itself pretty unlikely) is that you'll get moved on.
