Wicksteed Park - administration

A strange place. A sort of cross between a wild camping site (except that you paid) and a theme park (except that many rides were free).
It will be missed.


I suspect other sites will follow.

my sister used to be a near neighbour apparently the park is owned by a charity & run by an independent management company it is this company that has gone into liquidation, the charity board still owns the park & has appointed a new company to run the park with skeleton staff

Every parent knows the name Wicksteed, as it's stamped on most children's playground equipment throughout the land.

I wonder if this will be affected?

That's sad news. When I was a kid in the 60's in Bedford, Wicksteed Park was a real treat for a day out. Far enough away to be only an occasional treat, but not too far for dad's old Hillman to take us.
Many years later when I got married we lived almost next to the place in Kettering, so my eldest son will also have fond memories.

Only one big amusement place in ulster which was barrys in portrush,change a bit from my days,changed hands im told last year.
