Hi,

We have Pilote with a Sat Man dish attached, we don't watch TV so I was going to take it off until we sell the van. I was wondering can you use the dish to enhance your Wi-Fi signal for a laptop?

Is the frequency the same or can you change it to suit it? Not that technicaly minded when it comes to electronics, any hep would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nathan

The answer is yes, but not exactly.

You can use the reflector only (not the LNB) to enhance reception and it may help with transmission. You just need to put a wifi card or extended aerial at the same location as the LNB then aim the dish (note the dish may look like its pointing "down" towards the ground in order for it to work - depends on dish.

You cannot use the LNB for wifi!

(Exceptions are around for 1 and 2-way satellite wifi but this isn't what you are asking - you would need 2 way on a motorhome and the dish and kit would be bigger, pricier and probably dedicated).

If I were you I'd just get a long range wifi aerial. Tip: Our guide for easy free Internet Access abroad
