Why would you anyway?

I change my tyres both on the car and motorhome normally before they wear out when they reach 5 years old.

It`s my choice, my money, i`m more than happy doing it that way and it`s worth every penny IMHO for peace of mind.

So if we say about 30,000 miles out of front tyres over 10 years that only averages 3000 miles a year to wear them out but the tyres may even need changing before 10 years due to condition. Maybe not any issue for most but more so for larger truck based motorhomes?

Jaysus Trev how many miles do you do a year?
I bought the car over two and a half years back with 27 th on clock, now 71 th and on 3 set of tyres, 3 sets of pads and second set of rear shoes plus 1 set of wheel bearings, and thats going easy as i get older.

Little Skoda Fabia 1.2 petrol and just put tyres on this past few months after 34000 miles from new. Still had a bit of meat on them but advised of radial cracking in the tread at last years MOT. Not even new pads yet Trev. You must drive it like you stole it.

Cheers

When we bought our Winnebago, it was about 19 years old and still had 2 of its original tyres on the inner side of the twin wheel rears. I didn’t notice till I changed all the tyres just after we bought it. ( fronts and outer rears were 6 years old) they all looked like new, even with 47,000 miles on a 7.5 ton vehicle. The previous owner had wheel covers that he put on when ever it was parked. I can understand why some people think tyres will last forever if they look good on low mileage vehicles.

Usually change mine around 60/65000 miles, which in the past has been about 5 years. Still got plenty of tread, but walls get damaged. Last 5 sets at least I’ve sold on to people with LR’s.
Covers the cost of 3/4 of a new tyre. Don’t want them on my van though.
