why there are more restrictions

Just thought I would mention that the places that are getting new Motorhome parking bans, height restrictions and high charges tend to be ones that appear listed on websites and have suddenly been landed with a high volume of vans.

Luckily most of the places listed here are not in the middle of nowhere so there is a chance for some places to be left alone.

so carry on, post your favourite bit of local knowledge here, but next time you go expect either 50 vans or a ban.

sorry..rant over :D

it can be frustrating when local authorities put a ban on parking up for the night, but when you come to look at it there will always be somewhere to stay even if it is only a lay by. they are not the best of stops at times but they suffice ,also you can always find one near to where you are visiting. take own food own drinks and then you will always be getting your own back, if they dont let you park in there car park then you are unlikely to spend money at there town or village ..there loss thats the way i look at it ,the majority of the time you only want to visit a place to have a look round and have a walk. we personally will not pay over inflated prices for food and drink at a little pub where you are not realy welcome 2.70 a pint 10 quid a meal come on when we can cook a meal that will suffice. thats why we have a van with a cooker a fridge and basically the same amenities we have at home also i will not pay for a camp site 23 quid ish to park on a bit of grass that goes a long way for petrol . i know at times some with kids may need to use a site ok but us we will still use anywhere we can . my rant over too

Hi Mandrake, rant taken on board  and agreed with! :p Especially the bit  about spending. JIM.

Down near Torquay for 6 weeks on a family visit.
Even some of the official carparks now have height bariers during the day.
One honest(?) traffic warden said that it guaranteed a fine income from mobile homes which were forced to park in areas where their size enabled him & his colleagues to ticket for the use of two bays.
Having lived in Torquay for some 20 years, I suspect it's more pressure from a failing local tourist industry which looks for scapegoats for its problems.
