Why the NEED to park by the sea??

Summer is here, and so is the migration of tourists, an increasing number in Motorhomes.

There seems to be a number who insist in wilding on the prom for days on end. Admittedly they go away mostly during the day, but come back to the same spot every night.

I've given quite a few alternatives to the coast, but have never seen anyone use them, instead congregate on the prom. Not that I mind, but there's always the grumpy lot who complain to the council.

Now some are keen fishermen, but others are not.

Some friends called in, (they too have a camper), complaining about the vans on the prom, setting up camp with deck chairs, BBQ windbreaks across the cycle path, and to quote " giving us the evils because we walked past their camp"

So please, if you use Old Colwyn prom, don't take over, and don't use it as the base for a couple of weeks.

Try a couple of alternative sites in the rural areas, makes a nice change and spreads the load.

PS. Not so many this week, it's a northerly wind and the waves are bouncing across the prom at high water!

sorry pete but i think you are preaching to the converted :idea-007: a blanket ban on all motorhomes is all these people understand then they move to the next town to ferkit up :mad2: but there are more motorhomes this year than ever:cry:

I can never understand why people do this, its is so annoying, part of the thrill in wilding is spending your nights in differing locations. If this is whats best for them then bugger off onto a camp site.

A blanket ban on the Prom dwellers will not bother me as I have better places to go than that. These incredibly stupid selfish people deserve everything that they get.

BTW, yes, you read that right if you are one of them.

As somebody who has the sea at the end of the road, I have mentioned, ad nauseum, in the past the problems this type of selfish behaviour creates, not to mention the clean up costs.
Its not just the jobsworths who complain about it, its locals, its holiday makers, its small business people.
We are all affected by rude & inconsiderate behaviour from time to time, its something we learn to live with,or not ! However when its most weekends from may until September each year then I think most of us will get the red mist descending at some point.
As Capt Mainwarings old Alma Mater used to say "manners maketh man"

It is by politeness, etiquette and charity that society is saved from falling into a heap of savagery. --- A bit strong, but you get my drift.

Sounds like this will become Aldeburgh 2 or Poole chainlink ferry road!!

A superb spot spoilt by people staying for a week, then an eyesore of a hand painted caravan turns up and leaves a genny running ALL day!!!! We found that the so called fishermen left far more rubbish inc beer cans, broken chairs, tackle etc. Obviously 'real' fishermen don't spend all night drinking beer and damaging their kit, but there's always the minority that spoil it for the rest!

So yet another 'No camping or overnight sleeping' sign is just around the corner!!

How kind of you Desmond, to mention my old school. The Idi Amin Academy for Backward Boys and Forward Girls.

Hi Bigpeetee, you are so right.

Well we all love the sea, I'm sure, but 'don't spoil it for everyone else' should be the motto.

We have been to some lovely places in Europe only to find that some campers are dug in for a week or more with awnings out, chairs, tables, etc, which limit the number of spaces for others.

Bit of a shame really, no wonder some resorts in France are starting to charge silly money.

This bloke made sure no one saw the sea except him.
