Why some go fulltime

Over Christmas we decided that we would go to Stonehenge, on our travels there we stopped off at a small service area used by truck drivers and Motor Homes and the occasional cars. While my other half was making coffee I got into conversation with a chap who had a small van that had been converted into a motor home, it soon became apparent that he was living in his van and had done so for over nine years moving from place to place but in a small area, it was clearly apparent that he suffered with PTSD and found that living alone away from the majority of the public he could function in a normal manner.
He stayed in the area because his son who was also an ex-marine suffered with PTSD and help from the NHS and the services had not been forthcoming.
I told him about The Alternative Living Group and the wildcamping groups, which he was glad to know.

You may ask why I’m writing about a random chance encounter, but as I looked at this man it was clear to me that had circumstances been different I could have been standing where he was, none of us knows what’s round the corner, and we have to live the cards we have been dealt, so to all those who are undecided about the way they want to spend what’s left of their lies, remember “this is not a dry run” and you have enough time to regret the missed opportunities when you are too old to move, so live your life because may others would wish they were you.

There must be as many reasons for doing so as there are those who "Full Time".
Some by choice some by circumstances... (welfare system ?)
My only minor gripe is not with those such as you met..
But the So and Sos who do it to avoid tax Car Tax Insurance etc and also rip people off or worse.
I deliberately have not used the word travelers as that encompasses a multitude of life-styles and legality issues.
As has been posted many times there are many travelers woh are "Good Eggs" and simply choose that life-style.

It is possible to argue that as we holiday abroad in the winter and live in the MoHo in the summer that we are travelers..

Nicely put. I see quite a few full timer vans down here on the south coast. Although the council has put in place TRO's against Motorhomers, many have just moved in land and keep a low profile, not causing any apparent concerns.
The TRO they put in place is stupid anyway. It's from late evening to early morning. Vans just move in land from the coast during those hours,no problem as long as you are not intoxicated.

My point is a simple one, too many people worry about what others are doing or thing about them, be true to yourself.

So true, and we all forget this at times.
