Anybody going to Whitby this weekend? might see you there we usually park along past the co-op

We were there only 2 weeks ago and we stayed overnight in the long stay carpark at the back of the co-op. We paid £10.00 to park for 24 hours in the coach bay overlooking the Marina but the car park warden told us the following morning that although we could leave our vehicle overnight we COULD NOT sleep or cook in it! We moved later that day after spending an enjoyable day around Whitby and we moved to another wild camping spot known by the locals I believe as the "Blue Rock!"

We then moved on to Northumberland and we had an amazing few days wild camping around here too but I must confess, our first visit to this delightful county left us with the distinct feeling that motorhomes do not appear to be particularly welcomed here! :(

Enjoy Whitby - we did and we can highly recommend a visit to this quirky little Yorkshire resort.

i think she means blue bank bless her 54.444152,-0.6637
on top of hill near sleights

Hi Chris,

Apologies for getting place name wrong and Old Arthur is correct it is Blue Bank NOT Blue Rock! It was a nice level lay-by set back from the road with lovely views across the Moors. There was just ourselves and my brother in his motorhome parked up there and we all enjoyed a peaceful evening with no disturbances.

Like I say it has lovely views across the Little Beck Valley to the Heritage Coast beyond and also of Whitby and at night you could see the lights from Whitby twinkling against the black backdrop. Very nice it was too!

How to get there:
Approx. 1.25km south of Sleights on the A169.

Hope this is of some help?
