What made you buy the campers you drive?
Comfort?
Looks?
Size?

I think I chose the VW t25 as I love classics .. I would love a VW splitty but cost too much for a decent one (maybe oneday) So I guess I chose mine for Its looks and Its got lots of personality.. Also practical:)

Mine had to be small, discreet (ie car conversion), easy to manouvre down narrow single-track lanes, fit on our driveway and be comfortable for one person - occasionally two and within a limited budget.

I'd had my eye on Renault Kangoo Roos since seeing one 8 years earlier then had the opportunity to buy one and never had a moment's regret.

Size.

1. Wide enough to sleep across the van
2. High enough to stand up in without bothering with an elevating roof.
3. Long enough to have a fixed bed, kitchen, shower room, and lounge that 4 different people could use at the same time without affecting each other.

But, still small enough to fit into a standard parking bay.

We had a Hymer 694 (3 axle) then came into a bit of cash and bought the present S820 which has been perfect for living in it for the past 2 years, now we're downsizing to a van based for weekends/short hol's, its horses for courses.

a Bedford CF because it's a classic, the layout is ideal for me, and it's better in every respect (more reliable, cheaper to buy/run/insure, faster, bigger inside etc) than the VW Type 2 that i had before.

Super panoramic views from the rear lounge (Swift Sundance 630L) plus the bonus of a super kingsize bed when sleeping (no need to climb over each other when getting up).
Plenty of room if we decide to take the grandkids along for the weekends and room for those much needed extended holidays.

Really loved our caravan then wanted a motorhome and came across ours at a dealers which had the same layout with an engine on the front. Bliss

My choice.

Autosleeper Topaz on VW T4 2.5 tdi.
Previously owned T4 Leisuredrive and have become a firm fan of VWs.
Present van is small enough to fit on the drive, take to the supermarket or drive easily on small roads while still having plenty of room inside..
Very comfortabe ride, our August trip took in John-o-Groats and Lands End plus much of the highlands covering 2300 miles total.
Inside the van has everything we need for day trips or weeks at at time.
No plans for a replacement for some time but the next one will be another VW.

hi
VW T4 here.
I like the build quality of the VW, they cost more to buy but there worth it as they also retain their value.
As our van is also my weekday workhorse i dont want to run around in anything too big. I have made all the furniture to bolt in and out. I would like a fully fitted camper but would ruin it when working.
I have had a VW T2 before, looked cool, but very unreliable and cost a fortune in oil. I have no worries with the T4 and just set off where ever and when ever.

We have a Weinsberg Meteor overcab on a Peugeot J5. Exactly 5m lenght (saves somewhat on ferries ...). The right size for the 2 of us (and 2 dogs too:rolleyes:). We are happy with it (as long we are able to creep up the ladder); it suits us perfectly and we are able to park in a normal car bay.
We wouldn't change it for a larger one.:p

I bought/specified mine so it was exactly what I wanted and not what some designer thought was a good idea. The shop bought things really are not built to last.

well where to start .as a child we went abroad in early splitscreen vw,s later commers. etc, as i grew up i had vw,s myself .i ran a vw garage so tried them all .after a trip round africa i came home and bought a VW.LT50 pulling an articulated trailer. converted the trailer to a living van. after 6 yrs travelling in the winter throughout morocco down to gambia i built a mitsubishi canter artic unit from a tipper. it was our local gravediggers .its great works well ,carries 7 in the cab, sleeps 6.as a big shower we can sit 8-10 people in the seating area. carry upto 3 monkey /dax bikes in the boot.have 3 solar panels. big gennie, carry welding equipment etc . it can be driven on a pre 97 car licence. goes just about anywhere . and places it should never be.drop the trailer we have a pick up to drive . 10 yr ago it was rare today 5ers are all over the place. i love em. i also used to drive artic trucks so its like my baby. wave when you see me i will wave back .cheers alan.

Hi,

We have been motor homing for 20 + years & have had Murvi Morellos for over 12 years ( 2 vans ). Not cheap, but does exactly what it says on the packaging. For serious long term wilding without campsites, hookups, or running out of gas and still able to fit into a tescos parking bay nothing beats it -- in my not so humble opinion.

Wanted a low profile, fixed bed and small as possible as I use it to commute when raining, large engine to tow boat and dash A/C.

The only one to fit the criteria 3yrs ago was a Chausson Welcome 70 with Ducato 2.8Jdi at just under 7mtrs. Went to White Arches this weekend... STILL can't beat it!!
