When we first started out we did the trip to our local caravan and motorhome dealers shop, to spend a small fortune on items we didn’t need but thought maybe we should have, one of which was the expensive poor quality dedicated toilet paper, which we were not impressed with for more reasons than one, but the main reason was that it didn’t seem dissolve as I expected, then I read on here some time back to just use a cheap two ply supermarket own brand, and being a Yorkshire man this was great, and it worked better than the expensive caravan stuff, then as Helen buys Andrex in bulk we brought a pack of that with us,I was a little worried at first thinking that as it is a thicker paper it might not dissolve too well, but in actual fact it has been the best of all for dissolving as when I empty it there is no signs or traces.
Then a few weeks ago some friends that recently sold their caravan gave us some things that were no longer of use to them any more, and amongst it were two packs or the expensive caravan toilet paper, so being a Yorkshire man we have been using it and every time I come to empty the cassette I have to rinse it out more than usual to get rid of all the tissue that seems to stick around.

I also used the expensive dedicated toilet paper when first starting tugging as advised by the caravan salesman.
Now just use whatever we have in the house which is usually Andrex. It always dissolves and never leaves a trace in the waste tank.

The red indians used a dog to keep the babys bums clean by way of a lick,True, maybe thats why so many on here have a dog with them.:lol-061:

I think the myth that you should use 'special' toilet paper dates back to the times of Izal which would need neat sulphuric acid to deslove it.

We just use the Three Sea Shells ..

There are those that burn it,prob vodka drinkers.:scared: i wonder does it burn with a blue flame.

I think dissolving has a great deal to do with time and the agent you add to the cassette.

I personally find the German Bio Washing Tablets do the job just fine, are much cheaper and gentler on the environment, than the Blue Stuff for a cassette additive.

I am not an expert and it is certainly not something I have looked into but I do think Caravan Toilet Paper, is much more about simple marketing, package it well and place it in the right place and the happy little campers will buy it.

Personally, I would not wipe my backside with the product of such obvious bad marketing.

My problem is finding a roll that is small enough to fit the toilet roll container in the toilet. I have to hang the roll off the shower head until it's small enough.

Don't put paper in loo, then you can buy whatever paper you want

same problem it dont fit the holder and if showering and forget then up up with soggy mess and looking around for something when i need it

Yep... in Greece all paper has to go into the bin anyway. So we can empty into public toilets, we bag our paper and bin it. No issues with getting it to dissolve and the cassette lasts so much longer. We’ll carry on doing this.

At the risk of sending the thread off ... I can’t imagine how you do your number two straight into a bag, meant to ask, but didn’t like to!!!

Simples , have a pee in a bucket .Line the toilet bowl with a plastic bag, have a dump into the bag, use as much toilet paper as needed, tie the bag to seal it, put this plastic bag into another one and tie this, dispose of this package as you think fit, I saw this on U TUBE hee hee.:scared::scared::lol-053::lol-053::lol-053:

I use the Greek method of toilet paper disposal!

Hi all, When in Greece we picked up their toilet paper disposal method, a bin alongside the toilet.
This way no paper ever goes into the cassette!

1. Take a 5L water bottle or similar, cut the top off making it like an open bin.
2. Save all the little (FREE) plastic bags that you get your fruit and veg's in from the supermarket.
3. Line the bin with the bag leaving the top and carrying handles overlapping the outside.
4. After use carefully fold the toilet paper so the used area is inside and drop in the bin next to the toilet.
5. When full remove the bag, tie the ends and put in the none recyclable rubbish.
6. Hey Presto! No paper in the cassette to flush out and you can use a good quality paper!

Works for us.

Being Bentley owners, we used to use £5 notes.
Disposal was by folding the used notes, then giving them to poor people, Big Issue sellers or people in drive-thru queues at McDonalds.

The plastic ones are so much better. We can wash them and they dry in no time..

We now pay people to poo for us.

I wasn't aware, until this thread that bog paper was an issue, and I never knew there was such a thing as dedicated camper bog paper. Now that I think about it,I've never seen tissue come out of my cassette when emptying and I just use whatever is cheap at the supermarket. I can't believe people would get sucked into buying camping paper:lol-049:

IZAL real tackle, or some 40grit Sandpaper, you will not be wanting a Vindaloo for a while
