After spending the day sorting my sat nav, updating the maps I screwed things up but eventually got it back up & running. The trouble is its probably past its sell by date, it was only a cheap ebay one, the battery long ago packed up & it only works off the power lead. The current range on ebay are looking ok & considering the Xgody ones, thinking about the ones with 256mb of memory with 8Gb storage. There seems to be quite a few but can't find out how the model numbers relate to what they do, they all seem to have the same specs. the ones I've looked at are the 886 & the 712 (there are also a few other models as well) there is only 11 pence difference in price. The screens should be much better being capacitive, my old one is the resitive type & quite badly scratched now.

I have a Garmin nuvi 205 with the poi's installed that I have asked various folks about, but no responce, so I presume that I am able to offer it to full members. It was last updated at the end of 2017

I like the 7" screen fits nicely in the dash flip up holder on the van, got an older Garmin the daughter gave me but don't like it, also got a Tomtom think it is the 930 with all my POI's on it as well. Find the routing Igo software pretty good especially with the van dimensions, it usually seems to opt for the safest way, whereas Tomtom has led us astray even with the truck software.

Always had TomToms. Tried a few others but they were not as good. I mainly stuck with TomTom because of the huge POI databases that are out there, especially those associated with motorhoming. TomTom Start 20 full Europe. About £90 I think.

Garmin

Was in Aldi today and noticed Garmin Sat Navs for sale at £99-99 . Not sure what model it was though.
.... Tom ....

I had one of the Chinese 7” satnavs, but couldn’t get on with it, so sold it. The screen always looked washed out to me and it took forever to start, update and tell me where to go.
I bought a Garmin Dezl 770. Great bit of kit, nice bright display and has never really let me down
It did however, try to send me under a 2.5m bridge in France even though I told it our van was 3.5m high!
