Where to stay close to Dover

Hi

We set off on our trip on Monday and catch the ferry from Dover on Tuesday afternoon. We wanted to wildcamp overnight on Monday so the kids can get a rest and have a play. Can you recommend a good parking spot for the overnight stay where there is not to much traffic?

Not a good idea to park at Marine Parade during the day. You have to pay for parking just as Navigator says. Look at Canalsman's post, that is your best best at St Margareth's cliffe. A good place for your kids to stretch their legs. Have a safe journey and enjoy your trip.

We tried St Margarets at Cliffe in April which is a fantastic spot but got a bit of hassle from Boy Racers. Nothing really threatening but enough to stop us relaxing so we moved down to Marine Parade. Its always in the UK where this happens, never get any bother abroad. Marine Parade can be a little noisy but it also has excellent views and the Police patrol it all the time.

That is precisely why I park at Marine Parade. The Cops drive up and down regularly, it makes us feel safe. Also as Barryd says the views are really good especially at dawn and dusk. A little bit of traffic noise when cars whizz past.

Whats best about Marine Parade is it signals the start of another adventure. The feeling waking up in the morning at 7am and driving round the corner to the ferry where the whole of Europe awaits is just amazing!!
