Where to sleep our 2yr old and 6 month old?

Any good tips on where our 2yr old and 6mth old should sleep in our motorhome.

We have a double bed at the back over the garage.
And a double bed at the front over the cab (Luton).

We always put the grandchildren (4 to 8) over the garage.

There is plenty of room for all three and it means we can still stay up in our centre lounge after 19.00. Also, having had the 6 yr old nearly come flying out of the overcab whilst doing gymnastics (!) we no longer take the chance.

I think kids tend to roam around the bed and move alot during the night, I wouldn't put them up high, also more of a pain if they need the toilet in the night.

Hope this is of help :D

Hi
We spent a lot of time researching the best layout before buying for a family, Like you we have 2 children. 1 of 7 and 1 of 3. We opted for a layout with a rear lounge so that we could put them to sleep over the cab for the 7 year old, we fitted a cargo net for saftey and the youngest on the centre seating area and fitted a screen around her which hangs from a hook in the roof above.

This meant we still have the rear seating area where we could sit and chill.

Sorry this does not answer your question, personally if I was you I would consider trading in for a more family oriantated layout, fixed beds in motorhomes or caravans IMHO are little to no use at all for familys :)

Problem is there was not that much choice as we wanted a garage.

Question is has anyone found a suitable travel cot etc that could be used.

Other option we considered was making a drop down bed from under the over cab bed - similar to an A-class... so it was lower to the floor.

Updating the van is not really an option.

When we travelled overland to Greece our son was 2. My husband made a travel cot that fitted on the seat behind the drivers seat and was wedged on the other side by the toilet compartment. When we needed to use this seat it folded up against the wall. It worked well but it would seem your layout wouldn't allow you to do this.

Could you not put them on the floor on a blow up bed?
They cant fall off that.

We have a matress that we put on the floor for the 2 year old but it cant be used when the blown air heating is on due to the many vents at floor level.

But still not sure about the baby as we also have a small dog in the van.

Any ideas welcome?

Sleeping arrangements

We find that the large double bed at the back of our van is ample room for two adults and my 21 month old - we can even squeeze the six year old in across our feet if we need to!

Both kids have sleeping bags that they use and obviously the wee one is placed at the back of the bed so he can't roll off.

That is what we are doing at the moment.
Mum and Dad and 2 year old in Double Bed Over garage and we have mad a small bunk over our feet for the 6month old.

Problem is 6month old will soon roll and need more space and it gets too hot all of us together.
