Where to refill gas in West Lothian/ Central Scotland?

Finally, after over a year since a tree fell in Storm Eyowen, our insurance company wrote off our much loved motorhome and we think we have found a replacement.

The new (to us) van has a Gaslo system with 2 x 11kg refillable bottles. I’ve never had refillable gas so I was wondering if anyone could recommend suppliers near Linlithgow in West Lothian.

And, how do prices compare with Calor gas?

Thanks
Vinny

Have a look at these websites -
  • myLPG.eu: Features a large, live database of over 48,000 LPG stations across 70+ countries. It provides filters for car LPG, 24/7 stations, and motorhome access.
  • AutogasApp (autogas.app): A frequently updated, user-contributed database for finding LPG stations and comparing prices in the UK, available as a website and Android app.
  • FillLPG.co.uk: Specialized UK-focused map that lists over 1,800 stations with user-provided price updates.
  • Local Knowledge: Asking local taxi drivers is often an effective way to find active, local LPG suppliers.
I always call up the garage to confirm they still sell lpg and allow motorhomes etc to refill before visiting as the websites aren’t always up to date.
Regarding prices, at present I am using a caravan with gas low direct fill 6kg cylinders that I take in the car to refill at my lpg suppliers. Last month I estimate it cost me a 1/3 the price to refill versus buying a Calor 6kg cylinder so a massive saving.

LPG is much cheaper than Calor, especially if you haven't had to pay for the Gaslow refillable system installation; Morrisons, via MFG, have now agreed that refillable gas tanks can be replenished at their forecourts, and, at, say, £1.29 per litre, that's less than £2.60 per kilo of gas, so £15-£16 for 6kg or £28,50'ish for 11kg. I believe that a 6kg exchange Calor cylinder is north of £45, and may have risen again recently for well known reasons

I was vaguely aware that LPG was cheaper for refillable systems, but I never realised the difference was so vast. Maybe a tree falling on the van was a blessing in disguise!

Did Lairdy not have problems trying to fill there? I seem to remember young Gordon being a tad upset over it.
That was before MFG revised their ban after lobbying, mainly co-ordinated/led by Charlie at Autogas [now GasIt] of Thirsk, It's up to each Morrisons forecourt staff, but, the overall policy is to permit refills unless there are suspicious activities, such as gas locker doors being opened prior to refilling, so refill valves fitted through the door may well be seen as unsafe and the refill refused. Charlie did comment, IIRC, that putting the filler valve in the gas locker door was certainly bad practice, not least because the metal pipes are not made to cope with the regular flexing and shortening that the opening & closing of the gas locker entails
