Couple o texts on Friday night saw us head upto the Falkirk wheel on Saturday to meet up with Wully and Christine. Arrived at lunch time to Wully ripping apart a cooked chicken and Christine preparing some lovely wholemeal bread, that was lunch sorted so poured a few glasses of ale to wash it doon. The twa Christina's did a great job demolishing a couple of bottles o prosecco so we then decided it would be a good idea to walk down the canal and get a meal somewhere.
After our meal we decided to stop at a bar on the canal that we had passed for a nightcap before walking back up the canal to the van, this turned into several as there was live music on, Christina tried to call a taxi but they were busy so off we trod on our merry way.
Luckily there were LED lights sunk into either side of the path lighting up the yellow brick Road all the way to the wheel where the vans were parked up. The wheel looked fantastic all illuminated then Wully started to laugh shouting the bridge has disappeared, I thought he was on the wind-up but now it was on the other side o the canal, one of the girls were banging on a pee so shot down a path to the hedgerow only to find a group of the young crew and their cars having a catchup and came running back up.
We all headed down asking how the he'll we could get over the other side, the answer was to walk back into Falkirk turn right over the bridge then back down the other side not a good idea with a belly full o ale, then one offered to drive us back to the van and save us older crew another walk, we'll done Ryan ! Had a look in the morning and there is a sign on the swing Bridge that it is closed to the public from 8.00pm " you have been warned"
Moral of the story........Danny gan on the pish wi Wully !
