Where would you be if you saw this view? There's a small clue in the centre of the picture....

No I never said that i had been, I am to young to have been anyway, but have seen a lot of documentary's on the subject and to me the image that you posted looks familiar to some seen in documentary's maybe because its black and white, and why did you assume that i had anyway as I do not say that I had in my post.

Is it a airport or some sort of a military base
Regards Trevor

I took your answer too literally I guess. But that wasn't the question anyway. It was Where am I? if this was my view. The clues are in the picture but you have to look closely and know your geography.

Looks a bit like the river Humber to me. am I close?

Humberside No, Portsmouth very close. I am in fact standing on the west shore of Hayling Island (Langstone Harbour), looking towards Southsea and Portsmouth. In the centre of the view Spiniker Tower is just visible. If you were to look immediate left of the picture you would see the Isle of Wight. This spot is a favourite daytime stop for motorhomes.

Ferry Road

Well done Trevor, more or less spot on. Right to the end of Ferry Road and turn left before you get to the Pub Ferry Inn. Walk along the beach and face West and you will get the same view as in the picture. If you get chance, a visit to Spiniker tower is well worth the trip. Im still trying to find a view point to photograph it. Its so big its hard to get it all in the frame!!!
Later...
