We're going through mid-ish August for 4 weeks. Is there any advantage in booking now compared to nearer the time of travel?

Prices do go up the closer you book for travelling although we had to leave it quite late booking this trip, we booked about 2 weeks before travelling it was around £140 each way

We book as soon as the dates open normally 6 months + in advance , we are waiting for december opening and pay around £110-£115 plus the dog , never anycheaper than that

I booked for today's departure, 3 week return, on 24th of Feb - £394.

I booked for 10th September, 6 week return, on 4th April - £410.

The prices include for 2 dogs. We take the cheaper trips outside peak hours.

Some great prices in the above .
Check every now and then always almost double the ferry .

Tesco vouchers are useful to help reduce the price, we save ours up through the year
Don't do that much shopping !
Went on tunnel once just to try it and can see why people like it . But just did a trial booking and tunnel is £100 more , for a one way trip

I often book last minute, but it is worth booking as soon as you know dates you want to travel. What you don't want to do is turn up and buy a ticket, you'll be charged the full amount.
If booking in advance, even last minute, I'll always choose tunnel. If returning with nothing booked, always the ferry.
