Wheel size help , hymer

A few weeks ago we bought a fiat DUCATO hymer 644 1989. Where/ how will I find out what size wheels it should have/ can have? At the moment it has 14s but they look too small for the van, we have friends with a fiat DUCATO hymer 644 1995 and his ones are 16s ?

We are going through the van bit by bit but want to make sure wheels/ tyres are right as we have no history as such, with the van

Anyone got a similar van and if so, what size are your wheels ?

Is there a tyre pressure advice label in the door shuts at all? Or even in the user's manual perhaps - they usually state which tyre combination the pressures are applicable to, so might get a clue from that?

Ducatos and other Sevel vans of that period had 2 wheel sizes,I'm not sure of the figures suffice to say that if it was a turbo model it had the larger wheel than if it was non turbo.

Usually the tyre wall (profile) size changes in line with the wheel size to keep the same rolling diameter. Otherwise the thing affected is the speedo, which can get you in trouble of course!

hmmm..be careful relying too much on GPS speedos - they aren't particularly accurate. If, over time, you can get a decent offset worked out on the error to your speedo, then I'd always recommend using the speedo. GPS indicated speed can be affected by many things (poor update rate on the GPS hardware, loss of satellite views can hamper accuracy very quickly, slow processors and irregular screen updates too) and shouldn't really be relied on.

Quite agree about the TomTom - they are usually the culprits with the worst updates rates from the satellites :)

Hope the OP has his answers now though
