Terry, some people don't seem to grasp the simplest of questions do they? We've all heard of Quicktime, Active X etc but not that one... and like you say why do we need it???

Nope, We really don't need it

If you don't click on it to instal the active x file, at some time in the future something or other will not run, when that happens, the chances are you will not notice that something or other hasn't happened. so just ignore it.
