Yep brakes, something folks should look at every 3 mths or so, both front and back.

We got warning lights for that now. :p
No warning lights on my van ... also, it's impossible to check pad thickness with the wheels in place. Because of that, the MOT station (a coach company) I used when I first got the van completely missed that the front pads had worn out. However, the brakes still passed the MOT!
That year, the MOT station couldn't fit in a service and so I used a different garage -- who showed me the pads after removal. All pads had 25% or less of the surface still covered with friction material and one was almost completely bare... ...I now ask the garage to report pad thickness at each annual service!

As the low wear method for the Ducato (I’ll assume Boxer is the same) is only ONE front pad has a wire, it maybe that it is getting just in the edge of low and only contacting intermittently. I’d be checking both sides for certain. I had one time the wire dropped out of the pad and ended up with almost metal pads.

Not for rear shoes, and by the time the warning light embeded wire hits the disc you may have only hrs to sort & sometimes the pad leaves the metal backing plate.
Pity we dont have a warning light as yet letting us know when the wife is about to spend a lot of our hard erned cash. 😂😂😂

All new two years ago, nsf sized up on M6 so had to get them done, I'm light on my brakes normally, I thought it may be fluid, but it has no sensor and is full anyway.

Oh, yes that looks like your typical brake pad wear indicator, strange it's in a different position, and strange it ain't in the manual though.
