What's happening in France? Just got back from Northern France and Britanny and was surprised to see 'interdit no motorhome' signs almost everywhere we went. All the good spots and layby's, ports, harbours etc. Is the tide changing? They appear to be trying to get all motorhomes in the aires and pay your 5 or 7 euros plus 2 more if you need service points. Didn't have a problem wilding last year.

It's forums like this and other internet resources showing people the spots and the how to or go there encouragement.

The same thing is happening in the UK. The whole process is self limiting, there's a finite amount of suitable space though in France, away from the popular areas, they of course have a lot more space than we do in the UK.

I would say it is the inevitable result of certain members of a seriously-oppressed race escaping to a land of freedom and opportunity and then making the mistake of confusing the natural hospitality, generousity and openness of the inhabitants with a licence to do as they please whenever they please and wherever they please.

Hi, just got back last week from 6 weeks meandering around France & northern Spain.
Had no problem in finding spots & only paid at one Aire for one night for convenience

Don't agree Tony, you can't blame the Brits, no one does, 'as they please, whenever they please, wherever they please, as good as the French!

Well if I was a resident in some of the seaside towns we just been to I know for sure I would hate motorhomes !

What, even if we were eating in your restaurant, buying food in your grocery/butcher's shop, buying fuel in your garage?

I have lived in a seaside town & never felt that motorhomes were intrusive or a problem. I've not met one yet that didn't carry all its waste away with it - whereas the day trippers from the adjacent city constantly dump all their picnic waste in the shelters & along the prom before they go home.

Are you really so much of an eyesore & a nuisance? I don't believe I am, & I try very hard to not inconvenience others with my big van, just as I do in narrow country lanes & along windy A-roads.
