It was my go to app for Aires, sites and wild camping in France and Maroc. Tried to log on today just error messages. Site no longer trusted. Is this something to do with ****** and data permissions I wonder?

Android phones are full of bugs and spyware, maybe do a reset, dont ever put banking email or any private stuff on them, use brave or firefox browser only.

That's the opposite of my experience.

All good now thanks. Hadn't been on it since covid and was concerned must have been temporarily out of licence.
They suffered a denial-of-service attack on 22 January, which caused some issues, but their volunteers got things back up and running in the afternoon. Another server-related issue this morning, but again swiftly resolved. Even French members were getting warning messages this morning, so nothing to do with ******!

So it was hackers after all 😜 🙃

Samsung phones have Knox built in which is defence grade mobile security.

Never had an issue with a Samsung phone. And all financial apps have their own security measures in place.

I’d like to learn of examples in support of the bug and spyware argument. After 4 years of use I feel my Samsung phone is more secure than the previous iPhone.

Generally if there is an issue it is because somebody has clicked on a link in an email or text message from an unknown source. This is something to be wary of on all phones, both android and IOS.

Google will lift all your web searches and data, so will Facebook if you don't use locked containers the only safe phones are the likes of Linux based ones running pure android, sailfish etc, unfortunately, these are still in their infancy, but things will change. look up Lebrim 5 phone.

None of that is relevant to whether or not Android is secure. Basically, Android is a java skin on a Unix core.

Google and Facebook use commercial surveillance, but not using a particular OS won't help with that.

Pihole is a useful tool, and you can choose not to use Google, but you need more than that to avoid Facebook spying. Without effective filtering, almost any web browser will send data to FB. Using UNIX is no protection.
