Hi folks,
I have managed to source a spare wheel and tyre for my MH. (thanks tclarkie  ) and now need a wheel brace and jack. Ive had a quick look but there are lots of jacks to choose from? Lighter weight scissor type/ trolley jacks?
Do I need a jack that can lift my vans full weight 3.4 tonne or will a smaller jack do? Its only for if I need to change a wheel in case of a puncture, im not going to be lifting it to do any work under it so only needs to lift one corner?
thanks

Our Ducato came with a heavy duty scissor jack that works OK, at home I use a cheap hydraulic trolly jack that was £15 from Macro yrs ago, it's quicker and easier to place and use, bottle jacks are slightly cheaper & lighter but are taller and difficult to place under the vehicle - I would recommend a 1.5 - 2 ton trolly jack, try Hallfords; not the cheapest but you can take a physical look at them.

I have a bottle jack, 10 ton lift. Goes easily under the MH. Weighs around 6 kgs and I paid £7.50.

I always carry a Classic Range Rover (old shape) bottle jack on my various campervans. They have a nice shallow 'U' shape on the top piston that locates well on axle tubes, leaf springs, and front wishbones. Are quite short in height when closed but extend to a good reasonable height by a telescopic piston (first piston extends then a secondary extension).

These jacks were designed for high lift as Range Rovers have long spring travel and when the tyre is deflated a shortish jack is needed to get under the axles or chassis. Also they have a wider than average base for stability. Ideal for vans & motorhomes.
