Hi,
We seem to have arrived at bit of a crisis on the Worlds financial stage at the moment.
Greece are up the creek without the proverbial, Ireland have followed. Spain, Portugal & Belgium had millions of dollars worth of bonds offloaded (dumped) by speculative investors yesterday, & Germany is getting fed up with propping up the Euro. Meanwhile the good ol U.S.of A. continues to borrow billions from China so that it can continue to buy Chinese products. Madness doesn’t come close to describing it.

So I ask this pertinent question. After visiting the family in the west midlands in the new year, should we head towards the peak district for a few days solitude & walking, or meander slowly back down south via Bridgnorth, Ludlow& Hereford.

Hi Dezi,

The Severn Gorge area gets cold in winter but its very pretty, however up on top in the Peaks gets dangerous and the weather changes faster than I can wink. I've bin there, not fun! Nice walk along the River Severn and a pub lunch would have to be the way to go for me. Seem to remember a good pub on the river just off the Welsh Bridge if you do Shrewsbury.

forget the visit and send them a nice card from the southern tip of of italy  ssssorted

p.s. as for the cash take a pocket full of £50 notes allways works for me

Hi, thank you for the replies gentlemen, well thanks to Tbear.
You other two numpties are about as helpful as a Tantalus wine cabinet is to an alcoholic.
Priorities, not sure that I have any these days other than continuing my present comfortable existence for as long as possible. 67 last week.

Just to stop you whingeing Dexy, I can thoroughly recommend The bear at Hodnet, Shropshire.

Very nice place and you will not get any Doncaster riff raff in there.

It is on the poi`s, used it earlier this year. the pub car park (at the back) is very good for an overnighter.

Thank you young man. I know the area well, might give that pub a try one day, but not just after Christmas when I have already piled on a few pounds. Our last stop in the West midlands is in the Kingswinford area, so we will probable head out towards the iron bridge Museum, then head south via Ludlow etc. The A49 is known as the gourmet trail due to the excellent food markets & upmarket restaurants in the area. I believe you can even obtain that staple of the Doncastrian elite. Black puddun N tripe in gravy.
