I know this is a wild camping forum but I am thinking of heading off to Somerset, Devon and Cornwall in May / June. Or course there is the POI on here and I am a member of the C&MC and will probably mainly use their CL sites but which I can find on their site (Although its not very good to use) but what other websites do others use? I used to use Camper Contact but I dont know whats happened to it as its impossible to use now. The website is awful. What else is out there that covers the lot?

Edited to add. I prefer to search by map, a bit like we can on here. Maybe some filters like price, site type etc. Oh and no phone apps. Hate them. Prefer to use a laptop.

+1 for search for sites...

Covers lots of different stops including CL/CS/Pubs/wild stops/camp sites etc etc.

UK campsites is also useful too.... Especially for cross references/reviews etc

searchforsites.co.uk

A very badly named app. You can search for sites, but also for LPG stations and wild camp sites and pubs and much much more. Plus it covers EU as well as UK. The free version does most things, but there is a pay version that does a few more.

Camper contact !
Twas our bible for Europe.
Yes it is not as good now.
The app kept freezing.
I have invested in a 1 month trial of the app and first impressions are good
I will post again later.
Btw i think a large tablet (10in) is best.
No good on a phone

Thanks. Forgot about search for sites! I even used it last year. 😬

Addled hungover head this morning. Havent planned a trip for years as we have just been going to the same old places. Its quite exciting!! :D Think ill include the Cotswolds also and Clarksons farm!

Bit harsh isn't it, don't Wild sites, Camp sites, Pub stops CL's, CS's Aires, Stelplatz etc count as sites. I think it's a great resource and wouldn't be without it and I wouldn't want to change the name which I think describes what it does nicely.

I didn't read it as a criticism...

Its really good. Far better than trawling through the dreadful C&MC site. Im trying to find little CLs and sites with basic facilities and WITHOUT Hookup and it kind of lets you do that by putting a price filter in. I just put £12 as a limit and there are loads. If they are CLs though when you check the official site many have gone up. Im hoping to get away for several months again this year all being well and I Reckon sites with hookup will have gone through the roof price wise. All adds up on a four month trip.

Still a bit wary of Devon and Cornwall but it will likely be May / June so maybe not too busy.

We stayed on a great site in Bourton on the water .
Each of the 10 pitches was lakeside (no fishing) and right in the centre of the village.

The CCC club site at Chipping Norton is adjacent to Diddley Squat.

They all count as sites in my book. But some people I've recommended it to don't use S4S "because it only has formal sites and it only covers the UK"!

I can't think of a better name.
I think "SearchforWildSitesCampSitesPubStopsCLsCSsAiresStelplatzLPGTouristPlaceDaytimeParkingEtc.co.uk" is a tad unwieldy.

Once you've used it the name is fine. Just can be misleading to newbies. :)

Thanks. Will bear that first one in mind. There are a few CLs in the area also I have found.

Pitchup is good for camp sites you can put in various filters and look at sites on a map.
